I am writing for whom? Today I am writing for heads of households who need to look out for hidden costs in dispensing one’s own food in one’s own kitchen. I became of an alarming need in my cleaning practices and/or ability to properly care for salt and pepper shakers. I’m afraid I have been woefully lacking in maintaining cleanliness to said items. I confess to my lack and tell how I have tried to remedy the weakness in my past practices. You’ll find my story at https://onetahayes.com/2016/01/07/low-economy-taking-toll/
I want to pay tribute to wonderful people I have known, the wonderful country in which I live, the communities in which I have lived, the churches who have claimed me as their own, the God who sends shivers down my back when I really give him a portion of my time—well, maybe not shivers but tears flow easily in some of those most priceless times.

I love the practical and helpful topics you raise. Silver salt and pepper shakers which were my mother-in-laws I simply use for decoration now. Plastic ones last a long time……I recycle them in a special bin – hopefully they will be recycled into something else. I used to only have them for picnics but practicality has trimmed our lifestyle and unnecessary has been pruned. I have one fun pair (given by a granddaughter) two facing ?ghosts. Never used! (wasn’t sure how to keep clean so only bring them out for decoration on fun days like birthdays etc. Cheers!
Isn’t is fun to learn about people from such a simple thing as salt and pepper shakers! Thanks for sticking with me, Faye. You always respond with kindness and tid-bits of interest. I sure liked the statement in your post today that said, “What we need is not new light, but new sight.” I’ll have to run back and reread.
