a bombed tree-climbing plan – SoCS

SoCS

Instructions:  Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “mb.” Find a word that has those two letters in it, in that order, and base your post on it.

My first try at SoCS.     I sure hope this is more successful than my tree climbing adventure when I was ten years old.  My plan was to impress the twelve year old down the street by proving my tree sitting expertise. So like a lamb off to the slaughter, I prettied up my face, combed my hair, and put on a jaunty pinafore.  I was going to impress my beau.  I had planned my trap well by dropping cookie crumbs just like in the Hansel and Gretel story.  By grabbing the first limb, I could climb to the next where I sat until my legs became numb.  Just as my victim finds the first crumb, my numbed legs gave way and I dropped like a bomb in front of him.  Feeling humbled and quite dumb, I mumbled some mumbo jumbo about my hurting jambed thumb, and ambled away with as much style as I could muster.  Hope I’m never – from womb to the tomb – caught in such embarrassment again.

…….Disclaimer – Not a word of truth in the above story.  But if I had had a tree, if I had had a beau, if I had had a street, and if I had had an ounce of tree climbing ability, it might have been true! Well, at least I was once ten years old!  😀

Thanks for the prompt https://lindaghill.com/2016/06/10/the-friday-reminder-and-prompt-for-socs-june-1116/

About oneta hayes

ABOUT ME Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...

Linda, I checked your story. Actually I share frustrations with you about the bamboozling going on. And I think you followed the directions by choosing one mb word as a subject instead of using multiple words. But thanks for the good words.

  3. Great use of all those mb’s. Funny story, and it could be true. Courtney – Maui Jungalow
