SILVERFISH – Wordle #113

silverfish

The professor said he wanted  hands-on research on silverfish.  So I walked down to a little cove in the ocean where I hoped to catch a sight of silverfish in their native surroundings.  Rather than beautiful translucent water in the cove, I found it filled with foreign elements ranging from old tires to cast away mascara brushes and the place was rancid with the odor of dead fish.  I fumbled around the edge trying to heave debris out of my way. In the words of an old cliché, I worked my fingers to the bone in my effort to do research on the silverfish.  I made a decision.  I would do my research on the silverfish prone to reside on the shelf of my old book collection.  I could do that and stay dry.

About oneta hayes

ABOUT ME Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...

  1. Welcome to the prompt how lucky we are to have you! Very clever use of the Wordle, I really like that you use focused on silverfish as that was a curveball word and I wasn\t sure people would include it

Thanks for this reminder about scary bug monsters from childhood. Stay dry and keep writing, I loved it!

I remember having hand-on experience with Silverfish someplace. I hated them. Hadn’t thought of them in years until this challenge. Thanks for your comment.

Research on dry land….works for me! I don’t even like silverfish on dry land, but it’s got to be better than in the water.

What’s funny is that I have both silver fish and silverfish in my life. I much prefer the silver ones that flash and glide in the water outside, but I do have my chances to deal with the creepy ones that generally appear in the bathtub. Maybe the bathtub silverfish are dreaming of becoming big water silver fish!

Your story’s great, and doesn’t at all have the feel of just shoving words in to get them used up.
