MAN! THE GREAT TIME CHANGER

POKING A BIT OF FUN at God’s most brilliant masterpiece – (drumroll, please) Mankind! With the labor and cooperation of several million men and women which includes several hundred thousand computer giants, perhaps a hundred  million clocks are set back and man has demonstrated again his vast ability to control his circumstances – even to control time! Did we set back the sun or did we set forward the sun? Or perhaps neither! Whichever way we went we bought an hour (if we die in the next five months or so) or we borrowed an hour (if we live six-eight months or so). I’ve just reread Isaiah 38:8 ST/DST (standard time/daylight savings time) translation which says, “So God sent for the sundial makers who shortened the sundials to show the sun set back the ten steps it had gone down.” Oh, your copy doesn’t say that. Do you hear God’s HaHa? It’s a nice time for him to have a laugh!

Now on a serious note, I have now completed three years of extra time here in the land of the living (since near death in 2013), and I’m thankful to be here. I’m more conscious of the way I am spending TIME, the currency recognized in heaven. And by the way, John Newton had a new slant on “the land of the living.” Reportedly his last words were: “I am still in the land of the dying, I shall be in the land of the living soon.” Ruminate on that! If you don’t feel like ruminating today, just think about it. For those of you who made it this far with me today, thanks.

About oneta hayes

ABOUT ME Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...

“TIME, the currency recognized in heaven.” Love this quote!

Ah, it’s the sundial makers behind all this! Love this, Oneta….

Thanks, Pam, for your comment. I am so glad to be back on the blog. I’m about to get my equipment going here at home now. Much to learn.

  4. Glad to read this post today Oneta, you are a peach. My favorite time change quote is attributed to the native American, ” Only a white man would cut the top of his blanket off and sew it to the bottom, then think his blanket is longer.” We always believe we are in control. Silly humans.

Perfect analogy. I never make the change smoothly. I don’t know why because I have a very lax schedule normally. It seems to me that it wouldn’t matter much at this time in my life. I think I just got use to grumbling about it. Good to hear from you. 😀

Here’s how I handle this time change. I hang on to that extra hour until I need it. While everyone else is running around, grumping because they didn’t really get an extra hour of sleep, I just smile. If I decide things are getting tight, and I’m not going to get all my chores done on Tuesday, I just pull out my extra hour, and voila! I’m all caught up!

  6. My fourth year of making it past my stroke is coming up on the ninth of this month, just four days from now, and I had just started my blog shortly before then. And so I’m also thrilled to still be here and moving along, Oneta! Loved this post. 🙂 ❤

Do you ever wonder Why Me, when so many fail to recover? Of course you are younger than I and have a lot of living to do. I started my blog after that crises when I decided I needed a meaningful mission to be done at home instead of the active run around things I had done before. Have you posted regarding that incident in your life. If so, what link?

Certainly for all who reach 70 it is a normal expectancy that we will face trials. Because we are spirit and God is Spirit these bodies will only house us for a short period. The shell will deteriorate I believe from the day we are born we are ‘dying’. For those who walk in the Spirit we are then ‘living’ in a new dimension. Leaving the body behind our destiny is skywards one day.. Love the blog, Oneta, like the comments as well Every day is the only one we may have and short or long its HOW we travel and with Whom. To you all Grace and Peace!

    • oneta hayes says:

I agree with you Faye, how we make our journey and what we become on the way is sometimes forgotten as we concentrate on actions more than attitudes. “To be like Jesus” is more than words!

Hey, lady. I just saw the reports of the Cushing quake. At a 5.3, you surely felt it. Everything ok?

My son came from his room excited about it, but my husband and I felt nothing! Apparently we are unshakable. A friend about a mile from us had a clock knocked off the shelf and there are lots of shouts from FB friends. Anyway we are fine. I did hear it but I assumed it was a normal truck or something of that kind. They seem to be happening often these days.
