Frank Sinatra famously sang, “And now the end is near, And so I face the final curtain….I can say I did it my way.”

Genesis 3:4-5  “You will not surely die,” the serpent said to the woman “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

Judges 21:25  In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as he saw fit.

Isaiah 14:14  “…I will make myself like the Most High.”

Rebellion (defiance) is the sin that caused Satan to be cast out of heaven.  His pride caused his rebellion.  He decided he could do it as well as God – the Most High.  He even convinced a third of the angels to agree with him.  He was beautiful; he was called the morning star; he could sing and make music like no other.  By our standards, he was the ultimate party thrower!  Regretfully, he still is.

With all those positive traits, I still cannot see how he could have deceived so many into thinking that he was as good as God!  But he did.  I see every day how he holds out a thing of beauty, fame, power and says, “You have been denied what could be yours.  You have no king, you know right from wrong, you determine your own destiny, the restraints of your conscience are just keeping you from reaching your full potential. You are your own boss, you don’t need God telling you what to do.  He is just trying to keep you in the dark.”  And, oh, how the victim succumbs to the enticement.

Think how many celebrities have started out as wholesome special kind of young people and then watch their plunge into degradation.  Dare I name any.  Someone said to me the other day that she had admired Taylor Swift and thought she could be a good model for her daughters, but could no longer hold that view.  Consider Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan, Miley Cyrus and the sad plight of Elvis. Thankfully, not everyone falls for the lie; there are some Tim Tebows still around.

The sin of rebellion.  God says he formed people; he holds the power of life and death; he determines the days of man.  Free and legal abortion has made it awfully easy to take that authority from God.  Listen again to the words of Satan, “I am as smart as the Most High.”  Ms Abortion  says, “You own your body.  You determine your destiny.  I’m ready to help you out of this situation.  You know you don’t want a child.  I’m free and easy!”

And as Satan took a third of the angels with him, Ms Abortion will find a lot of support for her cause.  She did a grand slam with the Supreme Court.  She managed another windfall with Planned Parenthood.  And the Women’s Right movement – a political boon if there ever was one!

Now to you who do not look to the Bible for your standards, you who have compassion for the beached whale, you who hold nature dear, you who just loooove love, “Where do you look for your standard?”  Not history – history has kept abortion under cover for years.  Not your own conscience – how long did it take for you to convince yourself to go through with this act.  (At least that has been true in the past.)  Not doctors – “Ninety-seven percent of OB-GYNs have encountered patients wanting an abortion, but only 14 percent of the doctors perform them” … study from 2011.

One should not lightly try to dethrone God – make their own rules of right and wrong.

Satan did it his way also.  He paid the cost of that choice!  God has more to come for him and the angels who followed after him.  The end is yet to come.

About oneta hayes

ABOUT ME Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...

Thanks for reading and leaving comments, Jacque. I always appreciate your input. It is said that sin will take you where you don’t want to go, stay longer than you wanted to stay, and pay more than you wanted to pay. God’s boundaries are safe and secure.

a POWERFUL insightful lesson indeed. Only GRACE really continues to hold our world together so far short have people fallen from what God planned for each one of us. Pursuit of ANYTHING other than God was how Satan fell from Heaven in the first place. Pursuit of self, and fame, money …..anything other that Him can lead to carnage. it inevitably will. Thanks for putting it down and giving us food for thought.
