GOD PLAYS HIDE AND SEEK

“To have found God and still to pursue Him is the soul’s paradox of love (A. W. Tozer, The Pursuit of God).” Even though God tells us to seek Him, at times it may seem that God plays a tough game of Hide and Seek, but be encouraged by knowing God wants to be “caught.” As Tommy Tenney reassures in The God Chasers: “He will not frustrate us. God will allow Himself to be caught by us. As a father playing tag with his child allows himself to be caught by the laughing, loving child, so too will the heavenly Father allow Himself to be caught. In fact, just when you would tire in despair, He will turn and catch you. He wants to be ‘captured’ by your love. He eagerly awaits the laughing, loving encounter. He has missed those times with man since the Garden.”

About oneta hayes

ABOUT ME Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...

Ever seeking, ever longing, whole life long, to know we will never truly KNOW GOD but like Tozer says we must ever seek to go ‘higher’. Never in life be satisfied that we have all or most of the answers. He indeed is greater, higher, and MORE….Only the Spirit through the Word can lead us to this Higher Place. Blessings. Oswald Chambers said. I have longed for HIM. My Spirt yearns for HIM. The Spirit will lead me every onward to satisfy in part these longings in Presence this day. Tomorrow I yearn once more. MY Utmost for His Highest Iis a truly profound book. Thank you for your blog.

I remember a song we use to sing: “Deeper, Deeper, every day in Jesus. Deeper let me go. Higher higher in the school of wisdom, more of grace to know.” I might not be just right, but I liked the song. It has been a loooong time since I heard it.

To be CAPTURED by Him… truly a photograph which would never fade.

  3. I love this post. The image of a child chasing the Father and being caught in return…..priceless. And such a joy.

Great, timely quotes, Oneta perfectly timed – for me 😉

  5. I feel despairing now. I want to be close to Him but can’t find a way. Where is He?
