Two reasons why the United States is a great nation:

One: Psalm 33:18-20 “Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield.”

Two: Genesis 18:18 “…Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him…”

There are other reasons that make USA great in my opinion— the Constitution, the capitalistic economy, justice based on Bible principles, our concern for fellowmen, America’s fervor and energy, the work ethic, public education—but all of these are flawed except to the extent that they are operated “under God.”

About oneta hayes

ABOUT ME Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...

I like that you used Independence Day as well as the Fourth of July. I think it helps us remember what the day really is about — and we certainly can use all the help we can get!

    Happy Independence Day, Oneta!

Thanks, Linda. Everybody has a 4th of July; not everybody has an Independence Day. We are blessed.

I appreciate from a distance the 4th of July sentiments. My prayer in our 2017 world is that your nation remains with the God revealed in Christ as its covering and never, never, allows inroads from Sharia law. All nations including my beloved Australia will be independent only if God is central to ALL we live for…..not our governments, our leaders etc etc. but only GOD. Happy memories of 4th July 2017 to you.

  5. I hope you had a good 4th

Thank you. We went to a friend’s house where people ate, of course, then had a choice of swimming outside or staying to for “entertainment;” I was a presenter on the “entertainment” end. I had a good time and my audience did to – I think. Had audience participation where I tossed out questions such as “Did you ever play hooky from school?” Then those who did held up hands; I chose one to tell his/her story.” Great ice breaker. Then I used a post from here “A woman, a boy, a dress, and me” as a oral presentation. Did you have a difference in your day?
