I had been over to check on my mother, to be sure she had taken her medicine and to give her some comfort for the evening. Driving home about 10:30, I looked at cars around me and wondered why so many people would be on the road at that hour. Why weren’t they home in bed?
I was completely unaware that within a split second I would meet some who were on the road with me…………..
“Where are we?” I asked as I looked around seeing little except that I was sitting on a fluffy white pillow somewhat like a cloud. No, I’m sitting on a cloud somewhat like a fluffy white pillow!
“Who are you?” I inquired as I surveyed my companions—two women, a child, and four men.
“My name is Judy. I don’t know what happened. I was going to the store to get some Tylenol for my husband. He has a terrible headache.”
“I’m Susan and this is my little boy, Joey. I had to deliver him to my ex’s house before midnight. Last thing I heard was an explosion. Does anyone know why we are here?”
“I think I might have caused the trouble.” confessed Jim. “My girlfriend and I were fighting so I jumped up to go home. I revved up my car and swung around a corner…”
“You hit my car and knocked it into the oncoming traffic. There were a couple of medics hollering, blowing in my mouth, punching my body. It’s been that kind of day. I had to work overtime until 9:45. I just wanted to get home. I heard a loud explosion. Anybody know what happened.” asked a fellow who didn’t tell his name.
Identifying himself as Jerry, the third man explained, “I had just stopped to get gas in my spare can. I needed some to start an old car that I plan to work on tomorrow. I was sort of stupid to be smoking a cigarette. I think when your car hit mine, the gas can split open and my cigarette caused it to ignite. That explains the explosion. What explains us being here on this cloud?”
The fourth man said, “When I heard the explosion I came over to meet you. I expected we would be having new residents after an accident like that. I’ve been sent to tell you that you have all passed from your earthly life. I will help you find your place for your eternal existence.”
I mused about my question regarding who the people were who were on the street with me. I have an answer. It was just normal people living life who were on that city street.
Very thought provoking. In an instant our lives can change.
Thanks for the comment, Sharon. It is a thought worth one’s time.
now isn’t this a sobering tale!!!
We need to take it out and look it over sometimesl
Yes indeed!
We all run about with our heads in the clouds. I’ll be looking at them quite differently now. A very sobering thought, O! ❤️
Thanks as always for the comment. We need reminders amidst all the cares of life that fill our days with minutiae.
We certainly do….slow down, breathe, and always look up 🙂
😀
A reminder like this is profound. We all should , as we travel day by day, be thankful for this day and KNOW there is no certainty this side of eternity of how many more we will have.
Hope and Peace! to you and thank you for a significant reminder.
Thank you. 😀
always let your loved ones know that you love them .. you never know when its time to go. I love this! should’ve kept it going!
Thank you. I see you are hopping all around here in my space. Thank for giving me some time. I’ll return the visit.
