M’s September prompt for today is “once a treasure.” Can a treasure be something I didn’t have? Well, I can tell you it can be. Once I had a treasure; it was fifty pounds that I didn’t have that I do have now. Well, size 14 doesn’t look very good to some of you. But if you are a size 20, it looks like a treasure.
Let me tell you how I arrived at the above conclusion. It came about because FB threw back at me today something I wrote three years ago. To wit:
Report time, I have great ambitious early mornings! At six o’clock a.m., I was cleaning the floor of my closet; that’s the area that catches the throw away stuff, the give aways, lots of Walmart bags, a few Dilliard’s bags, the four inch strips I have cut off too-long dresses, shoes not decent to be seen but much too comfortable to get rid of, along with receipts and ten plus years of clippies.
What’s a clippie? That’s the tags I clip from clothes that show whether they are washable, where they are made, size—that kind of information you need to keep. I have come to a shrewd, maybe even original, conclusion. Ready? A woman is much more likely to keep clippies if she is losing weight than if she is gaining! Oh, how nice to go from 24-22-20-18-16-14! I threw them in a trash sack but I think I’ll go get them and organize them for a nice photo album!
Now how do I know they are evidence of coming down in size since I would have the same sizes on the way up? Because I quickly rid myself of all printed evidence on the way up!
Sort of one of the “like a man looks at himself in a mirror…and goes away and forgets what he looks like,” situations, and I don’t need a clippie to remind me!
So today I confess that I have not a single “clippie” in my closet. Yes, I’ve been on my way up! 14, 16, 18
So that is why I say, I once had a treasure – a size 14!

Such a funny story Oneta… I can completely picture it! Especially since I’ve been cleaning out my closet this month too!
Thanks M. For some reason my “big” clothes wear out much faster than the smaller ones. 😀
Oh how I must clean out my closet. Not sure but think I still have some memories of ‘before’ clothes and ‘on the journey ones’. Funny blog and real. Cheers!
😀 My husband never changes sizes and his closet is just as bad.
You are so adorable, no matter what the numbers are!!! Hugs!
That’s a bit of overspeak, but I love it! 😀
