“It will be a wonderful life with you,” the bride whispers confidently.
“Hush, little baby, mama’s darling child,” mother coos softly.
“Go back and brush your teeth now,” mother scolds sternly.
“Wow, these grades are great,” mother exclaimes encouragingly.
“Go, go, kick that ball,” mother yells excitedly.
“You will have to pay the money back,” mother advises regretfully.
“Congratulations, son. She is a very sweet lady.” mother says warmly.
“No way! You mean it. A grandchild!” mother shouts joyfully.
“Hush, little baby, precious little lad,” grandmother murmurs lovingly.
“Where have you been?” wife asks suspiciously.
“The bills are paid with money to spare,” wife rejoices excitedly.
“It wasn’t good new, darling,” wife acknowledges brokenly.
“Only the husband,” nurse instructs cautiously.
“I love you,” husband cries quietly.
“Goodbye, darling. … My life has been wonderful,” wife whispers fragilely.

ABOUT ME
Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...
Wow….
Thanks, Dorinda.
You’re welcome 🙂
Beautifully written, yet sad. A whole life in a prose like Poem.
Thank you, Msndibelle.
well that was sad….
If in this life only we have hope, it is sad. Truly life is only a vapor. There has got to be a reason beyond this
Yes there must!!!! 🙂
Life here is indeed merely a vapour but white we are here……every tiny light can make a difference in someone’s darkness . That makes even a vapour relevant. Thanks for the sharing.
We do leave influence for a while. Hopefully to the third and fourth generations at least.
Awesome, but sad at the end.
Thank you. If you have a blog, send me a link. I’ll check it out.
Tugged my heartstrings!! Beautiful! So well written!
I almost made myself cry. 😀 I love writing when I have heart in it. Thing is I’ve been in most of those stages. It’s the last to come. At least if Jesus doesn’t get it before many more years!
Yes writing from the heart is the best, even when it makes you cry!
😀
Oh my, this is absolutely delightful and tender. A life cycle covered in a heart-tugging, well written short prose. I totally love this Oneta.
Thank you, Jacque. Did you read it from your “links?” I think I put it there – maybe. I found it to be rather “close to home.” I hope my end will be like that with my dear man.
