GOOD AND BAD DO EXIST and Halloween night sometimes brings out extreme examples.
The eighty-year-old widower who expends his energy and money to make his house a welcome place for the pleasure of the innocent young.
Behind his house teens kill his cat and leave its carcass for him to find when he comes out calling, “Kitty, want some breakfast?”
****************
Matthew 12:35 “The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things put of the evil stored up in him.”
Challenge “micromondays” use the phrase “good and bad do exist” in 61 words.

ABOUT ME
Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...
now this leaves me sad…
and probably because I have cats and I do not like what Halloween has evolved into—whereas it was a time for children to dress up and received candy…the twisted and sinister now more keenly prevails…
and I have always worried about cats being the victims of the depraved…most especially tonight…..
Being such an animal lover—this kind of stuff just sickens me….
The man in this story is a figment of my imagination; however, the cat carcass was real. It was left in my neighbors yard a few years ago. Depraved minds!
Breaks my heart
Aw, so terrible about the cat. Sometimes teenagers can be so cruel like that, well even adults are. I don’t if it’s video games on PlayStation that make Killing look so easy and life so meaningless or just that a couple of boys are that twisted and the others follow along. How nice that eighty year old widower makes sacrifices for kids trick or treating though. It’s definantly a bright spot and if he is anything like me, seeing the kids’ costumes and talking to them is so rewarding 🙂
Mandibelle, see my note to Julie above. This incident with the dead cat occurred about 20 years ago before gaming was so prominent. I guess the violence draws the same kind of crowd. I have a friend now who is happy about her son playing the games and texting friends. She says it keeps him home; he is not in the least wanting to have a car although he is now sixteen. I guess that would be a relief compared to those who drive around killing cats. I would worry, however, about one who wanted to stay home with his cell for too many years.
A hauntingly beautiful tale, Oneta. There was a recent incident in which few teenagers burned three puppies alive and captured it on their mobile phones. I guess we have slowly but surely started on the path of de-evolution. Thanks for linking up with #MicroMondays.
How horrible! And thank you for the comment – both the compliment and the welcome to “MicroMondays.” I think I found you via Yinglan. I did read all the submissions up to the point where I came in. I enjoyed them.
Halloween in my opinion needs to be banned by right thinking parents NOW. Here in Oz this year we have seen some quite awful (darkside motivated events). It has never been a part of our culture and I hope this year’s events will show we don’t want it. (money or no money-making for some), When a little child dressed as an evil witch can break into a disabled person’s home, steal all her money and punch her on the way out……..It has left a few thinking people wondering…………
Where were the parents of this “little child?” Parents should be with kids in a lighted well populated area. No one comes here. We don’t put the welcome lights on because children have no business walking in this area. Good area but the houses are are not close together.
It’s so sad that this is based on a true incident! I would love to believe in the goodness of humanity
Thanks for reading and commenting.
