KJ Psalm 42:8 Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.

The “inner-tape” plays in my head – “Jesus Will Be What Makes It Heaven For Me” (Walt Mills).

Heaven for me
It will be Heaven for me
Jesus will be what makes it Heaven for me
All its beauty and wonder I’m longing to see
But Jesus will be what makes it Heaven for me.

I love the song and I’m glad it is in my head, but I’m also thinking, why wait for Heaven, for it to be heaven for me. Jesus is here – that makes it heaven for me – when I give him my time. I have sometimes wondered how our relationship with Jesus can be better when we get to Heaven than we have the opportunity for it to be here. Here He lives inside. Can he get any closer than that? Don’t know, just thinkin’ about what goes on in my head when I’m not thinkin’.

About oneta hayes

ABOUT ME Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...

This is thought challenging Oneta. Christ within. Our God is relational. This is indeed a foretaste of heaven. What a propelling forward to live this life to the fullest honouring Him in anticipation of eternity. (indeed what I am thinking when I am not actually aware I am thinking).

I am sometimes astounded that people without Christ are not less stable than they are! Especially those who feed on sex, violence, jealousy, insecurities, and on and on. Even we Christians have to have Christ “jerk our leash” as Roo says so picturesquely in next comment.

  3. Roos Ruse says:

Every now and then God jerks my leash to remind me His plan is so much better than my task list or agenda. His plan for me to enjoy His presence seems so simple and yet I so simply forget that’s all there is to a fulfilled life. I must be simple!!! Great reminder, Oneta.

“Jerk my leash” – love that imagery. We so often allow ourselves to stick our noses into traps – amazingly, so often the trap does not even smell good! I think our problem is to try to make everything too complex, Roo. We are likely too simple to try to be complex. So glad the gospel is “simple enough for a child.” 😀
