I want to pay tribute to wonderful people I have known, the wonderful country in which I live, the communities in which I have lived, the churches who have claimed me as their own, the God who sends shivers down my back when I really give him a portion of my time—well, maybe not shivers but tears flow easily in some of those most priceless times.

LOL! Love this. I used to try to teach my kids to take everything out of the pockets before you do laundry. Otherwise you get crayons in the dryer, bits of kleenex, whatever. I said, “listen, it takes about two minutes,” and sure enough as I showed them, I managed to harvest about 7 bucks and some change. They never really learned this lesson but at least I know if I ever need I cash, I can always just offer to come do the laundry for them. 🙂
Now even taxable the second time around!
I’m astounded that in over 30 years reading and studying the Bible snd Jesus I don’t remember getting this point in that parable, Oneta. Truly we are iron sharpening iron.
Why, thanks much. You are so right about how we often overlook the obvious.
I toss my change into the cereal bowl I used to eat from when I was a child. It has Tom Thumb sitting in the bottom, pulling a plum out of a pie. When the bowl fills up and I roll the coins to take t to the bank, I can have as much as fifty dollars. It takes me a while to fill the bowl — sometimes three months or more — but it always does feel good to get that money back in circulation. And it does feel like “found money” at that point. Sometimes, hiding away is good, if you have a purpose for it.
I remember that cereal bowl; maybe my son’s. Fifty fun dollars would be a fun spend. I have a bowl of change in case I have a garage sale someday. Got a story to tell; blog style. Hope I remember soon. Too taxing for tonight at 1:00. I’d better go to bed. I’ve been working on a mailing list for a family reunion. Time got away from me.
