PRAY FOR OUR NATION

flag

The following scriptures are good to base our prayers on:

Pray for the president and other leaders

I Tim. 2:1, 2 I exhort therefore, that first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men: For kings, and for all that are in authority: that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

Repent for sins of the nation

Kings 8:33, 34+ When they people Israel be smitten down before the enemy, because they have sinned against thee, and shall turn again to thee, and confess thy name, and pray, and make supplication unto thee in this house: Then hear thou in heaven…

Ex. 34:9, 12 And he said, If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee go among us: for it is a stiffnecked people: and pardon our iniquity and our sin and take us for thine inheritance…Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with in inhabitants of the land…

Num. 14:19 Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of they mercy, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.

Thanks for his promises of blessings for the people and nations
that serve and trust the Lord God

II Chron. 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Ps. 17:7 Show thy marvellous living kindness. O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.

Ps. 33:12-20 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. The Lord looketh from heaven: he beholdeth all the sons of men. From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth. He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works. There is no king saved by the multitude of an host; a mighty man is not delivered by much strength. an horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength. The eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy: To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield.

About oneta hayes

ABOUT ME Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...

This is a perfect list for prayer in general. We confess, we repent, we gift thanks and praise God for doing his will – which is always good. As long as there is even as small remnant of believers, he will hear our prayers and heal our land. Great words.

I think of how God promised Abraham that he would spare Sodom and Gomorrah if there were only ten. I don’t know what percentage that was of the towns but it was not much. Surely if we Christians pull together, pray, trust, and give thanks, God will have mercy. I know his hand and invitation is extended still.

Excellent Scriptures to help prime the prayer pump, Oneta. It’s nice to see you seem to be back to full speed again. Thanks God! ❤

Doing well. Transitioning from walker to cane – with joy about that. I’ll see the doc this Wed. Hope he will let me drive. Then I will be on the go again. I am just now really seeing the advantage of praying scriptures. Trying to grow in that way. Thanks, Roo.
