THE REVIEW

review

…. One side sits in stony silence as the other side whoops for joy.  The silence is momentary, then a loud angry roar erupts.  The crowd is in mayhem but I don’t really care.  The ref made a mistake, but the mistake was in favor of my team.  We won!

….  The ref called it!  He called it!  It’s ours!  We won!  There’s grousing from the other team.  Their coach strides forward.  There is a gathering on the field.  The announcer warns, “The call might not stand.  There will be an automatic review.”  Time slows down.  What will the video show?  I’m yelling in protest.  I could see what the ref did not; I know what the video will show.  I don’t like it.

My team could get by with lots more before cameras in every hand and videos in every stand at every football game in the land.

Half want a review; half do not.  Will the call stand?

Why such fear of another “Roe vs Wade” situation being brought to the Supreme Court?  Perhaps the favored side knows a mistake was made.  They scream “No Review.”  What chance another team of refs will make the same call?

Same Document.   “We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are LifeLiberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness….”

At what age is a “man” created?  When does he attain the right to life?  What does a sonogram show?  Sure looks like a baby – a “man” with a right to life …..

About oneta hayes

ABOUT ME Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...

Thanks for your amazing, powerful words. We need you in congress.

I was waiting when the other shoe will fall, “Why such fear of another “Roe vs Wade” situation being brought to the Supreme Court?” – now it’s all clear. POTUS can be the devil incarnate as long as he stuufs the courts with our own😂. Then we can all go home to roost (or rest, who knows). Luckily the world is not flat (though some will still like to believe that), what goes around, comes around.
Do I need to sharpen my sword a bit more😂

    • oneta hayes says:

I don’t know how sharp your sword is; it hasn’t touched me yet. My side has made no secret about wanting “constructionists” in the Supreme Court. They will rule on what the Constitution says; not on what they want it to say. I’ll take all nine who know how to read words instead of reading “my agenda” into the meaning. My agenda means when I want to win no matter whether it is right or wrong. I haven’t noticed that your side has not put judges in who would continue your agenda. In 1973 there were seven of them. “Right to privacy” was it? I never have seen that phrase in the Constitution. Come to think of it, I haven’t looked. Would you tell me how to quickly find it?
Consider this: The Supreme Court is not the Supreme Judge.

      • pranabaxom says:

Constitution is a living agenda, not cast in stone, and needs to grow with time as can be seen from the 27 ammendments.
As for another document that was cast in stone, your current standard bearer seems to have flouted all of them,😂

        • oneta hayes says:

Yes, for the Amendments. Is that not established in the Constitution? Which Amendment relates to Abortion? I must have been really busy to have missed such having passed. That is the only way it is a “living” document. For a man who is so open minded he can’t come to the aid of a pre-born baby, you are close minded as Maxine Waters regarding President Trump. What would you like him to do that he hasn’t done? Oh, on that side, are you? 😀

          • pranabaxom says:

I am keeping count. Lousy, close minded, going to hell (certainly not before meeting you😂) etc., etc.
If it is a living document, one day it will get in there. Church ultimately accepted that the world is round. Till that day, as I said before, I will live that to the ladies, their doctors and their faith and if I can provide them the help to make abortion unnecessary. That does not make me a supporter of abortion, does it. Unless someone chooses to be close minded😂

            • oneta hayes says:

I deny “lousy,” that’s not my feeling and I generally say what I mean. 😀 I limited the close minded to your regard for President Trump. I did not say you a going to hell. You said you were going the the lower parts or something like that and I said, then I would never see you face to face. I still hope to see you – in heaven. 😀 So you only have one count – close minded about Pres. Trump.

              • pranabaxom says:

I gladly accept that. It was much before I was born but I do remember reading about one of those old school Brits being open minded back in the late thirties about another one who was hell bent on destroying the Civil institutions by promoting fake news. I think millions of Americans paid the price with their lives for that open mindedness. I am not closing my mind but will retain a healthy dose of scepticism.

Sincerely, Oneta, I consider this the best I’ve read on the subject in recent times. “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, then will I hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land.”

  4. Amen!! Thank you, Oneta!! ❤

  5. Faye says:

amazing from across the waves how clearly we can see both sides of some of the issues you raise Oneta. I thank God indeed for the power of the pen. I bless you for the way you can write re your truths etc. We share absolutely the view on the sanctity of life. That’s were we in this wide broad land struggle with your issues regarding ‘gun-control’. Rights of ALL HUMANS to live. No where do we have written that we have any ‘rights’ to add to our bodies or strap on soldiers violent arms etc. After our tragic Port Arthur massacre laws were changed to prevent ALL weapons being legalised that were not ‘necessary’ for reasonable protection of life and property. All must be licensed. If people in our cities started to carry arms I personally would want to move. Just a thought! thank you always for your blog posts.

    • oneta hayes says:

We will not agree on the matter of gun control, I’m sure. I just read recently I think on someone’s blog about how Hitler managed to get all the guns, then he could run his tanks in without fear. I believe in an armed militia. I also believe a person should have a gun for his own and his families protection. I believe the police should be armed against the guns criminals use against them. I do not believe criminals will ever turn in their guns. So I make my statement. I might deal with this issue on blogs, but don’t particularly plan to at this point. We will agree to disagree on this matter. 😀
