A STERILE HEAVEN? NOTHING TO DO?

heaven

Birds, bees, and bugs – even slimy slugs –

Lots of grassy berms, but no deadly germs,

Are found in Heaven’s halls and hills.

Hippos, horned toads, and green frogs

Strut their stuff among tree logs

Used to make vast playgrounds

Including skateboarders exciting mounds.

Babies, Teens, and Adults too

Wander peacefully in the zoo

Built and kept by animal lovers

Over masses of flowers, a hummingbird hovers

Listen – the singing – karaoke and choirs

The dancing, the swinging, the fishing and hiking

Even motorcycles, cars, and biking

Many other things much to my liking

The scientist in the labs of Mars

And other places beyond the stars

The gardeners who make the roses grow

The athletes who go sliding in the snow

Rulers of nations, and judges too

Will find that there is much to do.

Artist, Physicist and Astronaut

Those who teach, and those being taught

Old passed away and all things new.

Chosen delegates to see the King

You won’t need to bring a thing

You’ll be honored as the King’s guest

So you will want to look your best –

Now – shoulders straight, hair a-glowing

Wrinkles gone, muscles showing

Blinded eyes sparkling; dull ears hearing

Sorrows behind, never again nearing.

No depression, dementia, nor disease

To detract from eternity’s ease.

Strawberries, blue berries, cherries and trees

Juices and wines, coffees and teas,

Four balmy seasons – but no dirty breeze –

Are found in Heaven’s halls and hills.

Sadly there are people who will look this over and still decide Heaven will be boring.  Makes me wonder how many people out there wearing or holding peace signs really want peace.  If perchance, you do want peace, Heaven is the place to set as your destination.  Ticket paid for, but you have to give yourself over the the Prince of Peace to get there.  John 14:6  Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

About oneta hayes

ABOUT ME Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...

This will be here in earth if we send the zealots and fanatics up to heaven.
I was expecting mention of seventy two virgins😂

  2. Elihu says:

I don’t imagine or expect to be bored in heaven. The God who created all the fascinating wonders of the earth has an even more amazing eternity in store for us.

  3. pranabaxom says:

I enjoyed the poem till you mentioned the king. King, nah! I like the white bearded guy more as a friend, philosopher and guide. 😂

I like him as the ticket holder. Seriously, Pranab, what do you think of the people out there holding peace signs? Do you really believe they want peace? As you say, peace would be so boring. How many people would go to a movie where everything is peaceful? The sinful heart of man/woman craves evil and upheaval. Who wants to go to the park and watch birds instead of going to the football game and watch guys crash into each other? Who would go to a car race if every car were in a safety bubble? Who wants to go to a sterile heaven if they believe the option is a sinful party?

      • pranabaxom says:

There lies the problem. One should reach across the divide. Those craving for the virgins also crave for heaven😂. That’s why I gave heaven a pass. I am happy with the one I have in earth.
On another note, I sleep through movies. I have tinnitus for nearly three decades now and movie hall (and TV also) allows me to sleep peacefully. 😂

Perfect description my friend. Can’t wait to get there ❤️

  5. grAnnie Roo says:

Lovely, Oneta. My attempts to describe my perception of heaven and the Ticket holder falls flat in comparison, and never rhymed.😆

    • oneta hayes says:

You probably tried too hard, and bumped right into “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined,” and gave up. 😀 I don’t even try to compete with that. Just do what Jesus did – talk about the sparrow, lily, streets of gold, and lamb of sacrifice. He uses my language clear up to the point of carrying me over to a realm where he can teach me his. I haven’t got there yet. 😀

  6. I wonder if the colors we see in this life are only a tiny percentage of the colors that exist. I wonder about new music with notes and tones different from any we’ve ever heard. I wonder if someday we will be amazed to look back and realize how limited we were in this life, and how easily amused.

    • oneta hayes says:

Good thoughts. “How easily amused” – probably. Maybe like a new born – all new; however, we do have hints of things being much like the Garden of Eden. We understand that. And we will know each other. And I guess we will remember the crucifixion story – at least, it seems we will recognize Jesus’ nail scarred hands. Maybe this is the place to use the trite and overused “Whatever.”

  7. Faye says:

The heaven that is ahead could never be boring because the Presence and Glory of God would be so awe-inspiring and our bodies would be so changed that any semblance of what we know here would be so pale in comparison. Who knows? no one but only glimpses in Revelations and that is so inspiring for me I will happily let the Lord refine, and change me to be ready. Repentance and Love the way forward. May His Peace our daily portion be.

    • oneta hayes says:

Faye, have you considered the similarities between Heaven as described in Revelations and the Garden of Eden. It is an interesting comparison. Great day to you as you rejoice in His love and hope in His future.

  8. Denise says:

Who knows what’s in store for people in heaven but psalms 37:29 says, “the righteous will possess the earth, and they will live forever on it.” This is inline with his original purpose of paradise on earth. So many things will be in store for us!!! Can’t wait.

    • oneta hayes says:

Denise, I think you are right. Those who trust in the saving grace of Jesus’ sacrifice, will find out! And with much rejoicing I am sure. Just image the Garden of Eden peopled with people we know and ruled by the King of Kings, and eating with the Bridegroom. Those are pretty significant visual images, huh? 😀
