Meditation from my study in the Book of Isaiah.
After a series of curses and railings against nations who do not trust in God (Chapters 13-24), I am so relieved to run onto Chapter 25, a praise to God which includes the well- known promise of his someday wiping away all our tears. And I especially like verse 9, “In that day they will say, Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”
This morning – being glad in his salvation – I recall a song: “Glory I’m saved! Glory, I’m saved! My sins are all pardoned, my guilt is all gone! Glory, I’m saved! Glory, I’m saved! I’m saved by the blood of the Crucified One!”
I have no idea where or when I learned that song, but I am amazed that I am thinking of it 110 years after it was written by S. J. Henderson, a rather obscure person in 1902. I can’t find anything about him online except that he seems to have written three songs.
Bloggers, that shows the power our words could have on someone a hundred years from now.
- Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!
Now ransomed from sin and a new work begun,
Sing praise to the Father and praise to the Son,
Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!- Refrain:
Glory, I’m saved! Glory, I’m saved!
My sins are all pardoned, my guilt is all gone!
Glory, I’m saved! Glory, I’m saved!
I’m saved by the blood of the Crucified One!
- Refrain:
- Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!
The angels rejoicing because it is done;
A child of the Father, joint-heir with the Son,
Saved by the blood of the Crucified One! - Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!
The Father He spake, and His will it was done;
Great price of my pardon, His own precious Son;
Saved by the blood of the Crucified One! - Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!
All hail to the Father, all hail to the Son,
All hail to the Spirit, the great Three in One!
Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!
Yes, the power of words! One of the things I pray daily is that God will use my words – spoken, written, sung, or prayed – to make beleivers out of unbelievers, and to help believers with whatever their need might be, whether it’s comfort, healing, encouragement, enlightenment, correction, warning, challenge, or inspiration.
We have an awesome responsibility for what we say – but we can deny it. What we write will stand forever! 😀 I’m joking about denying what we say but the evidence is not so clear.
I needed this post today, Oneta. Both the messege, the interesting piece of history and the timing is perfect. Now, “I feel like going on…” 💚💙🐛
Well good. Glad the words were right. Keep the good words pealing out on your blog.
👍🙏💚
Thank you Oneta for the encouragement- both from you and my friend Isaiah 😍
So glad to give a thumbs up to you. You do a powerful job keeping us informed and keeping us praying.
Someday all our tears will be wiped
Because deads don’t cry😂
But you don’t seem to understand. I will not be dead! 😀
Oh, I see.
I have not met one yet ascending up there live. There will be a first, I suppose 😂
None is so deaf as one who will not hear. 😀
My hearing is excellent and heart is open to receive what my brain analyzes to be real truth, not gospel truth😂
I’m speechless! We have no common ground to stand upon. Except friendship. Blessings to you. Uck-oo. Nobody big enough to bless you. Well, just pay yourself on the back. 😀
I don’t have money to “pay” myself on the back💰. By the way, does that mean some form of bribe?
I will take friendship any day over God. I already count the old guy as a good friend😂.
Oneta, thanks for sharing that hymn–my first acquaintance with it.
I don’t know where I every learned it. Songs implant themselves deep into our minds and music comes out. 😀 Thanks, Judy. I’ve visit your blog but it seems you are not writing much. Hang in there with your testimony which need to be seen. Short articles get read more than books. And them might lead to the book
Thanks for your encouragement to keep writing, Oneta. Family issues have usurped that time, but I think I’ll be coming back more often soon.
We must prioritize. 😀
that is a wonderful song Oneta! And you are so right….you just never know who your words will affect and how many years later.
Thank you. We are safe to point to the power of words – it is settled in the Bible. Words of life or words of death. It is painful when one realizes she has wounded by words. I have the experience. 😀
Wow! yes. Basic refrains and songs to affirm the truth of our identities. Blood bought children of God. We have been saved, He….. Almighty God is our Abba Father. What a reason to rejoice. Hallelujah!
Yes it is a “wow” wonder! Music of the soul pointing to the God/Man Jesus Christ and what he has made possible for us. Have you been well, Faye? Also how is the husband?
That’s a great hymn, and we sing it now and then in our church. Just a few weeks ago in fact.
Hey, That’s good news. Good news that you are singing Good News. 😀
Yes!
Amen-Amein!! Hallelujah and Maranatha!! Christ-Messiah Jesus-Yeshua SAVES!!
Love Always and Shalom, YSIC \o/
