macro of pregnant female Guppy (Poecilia reticulata), bit harsh reflections on the belly
All I want for Mother’s Day is a pregnant guppy
No kitty, no hippo, no cockatoo, nor puppy
No perfect yellow rose, nor reconstructed nose,
No silver spoon from which to sup,
No gold-etched china saucer and cup,
No trinkets nor blankets, not even books
No cell phone, new chair, nor shelves with coat hooks,
No flowers in a stunning vase
Nothing made of satin, denim, nor lace
No lotions, no oils – nothing used in tubs.
No pictures nor pitchers, not even back rubs.
All I want is a pregnant guppy —
I pray she’ll not be mean and vicious
Who finds her children quite delicious!

ABOUT ME
Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...
You make me smile 😀
Thank you. My desire on most days. In real life, I told my daughter-in-law last night that I wanted a guppy. She loves to shop so I figured I would get one in a few days. After that I decided I wanted a pregnant guppy – well, that put me on a roll. 😀
Just so she didn’t hear correctly and she brings you a puppy😍
Ha, quite a change in menu. By the way, I have a guppy. Got up from a nap and there she sits with a partner looks like. Guess she is not pregnant – yet. 😀
Lol😜
Coming from a prolifer, it is delicious indeed😊
I considered a stinger to throw in but axed it. Sometimes just fun is sufficient.
😊😊😊

A poem that will bring a smile on your face any day.
Thanks so much. I’ve been over there. Left comment. 😀
Bah ha ha ha! Awesome!
😀
Oh Oneta, this poem and the picture is lovely! It actually brought a smile to my face. Although, I gasped at the “not even books” and “back rubs” part! 😃😃
I figured I better stress the “even” part for those of you who love books – me too. That shows how dead serious I am about the pregnant guppy! Fortunately my husband is generous with the back rubs any time I ask so that was not such a big sacrifice. Thanks for your response. 😀
Guppies are amazing little fish. Hard to find those with robust genes. Many of those “beautiful” guppies have poor genes and immune system due to genetic problems.
Aww. I guess mine are okay. I think I now have eleven in the aquarium. They are of various sizes. Many do not survive the cannibalism after birth. I tried for a while to separate the small fry, but it was too hard so I let nature take its course. I do have hiding places. Does that sound cruel?
I think it is part of nature. Same with feeding live food to fish. I hope to have a guppy tank one day too.
Agreed. I’m glad I don’t see them do it however. Thanks for your interaction here on my blog. I did go over to your blog. It looks specialized and intellectual. 😀 As you can see my blog contains a little of many things. Hope you will enjoy more or them.
