Man can know no more about God than what God reveals to him. But man can know much less about God than God has revealed. Hosea records God’s disapproval of those who do not know him, “Hear the word of the Lord…for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor KNOWLEDGE OF GOD in the land….My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge… In Hosea 6:6 God indicates that his people are just routinely going through the ritual of worship and sacrifice, as he says, “For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the KNOWLEDGE OF GOD more than burnt offerings.” God does not reveal himself to us all at once. He reveals himself in “increments” when we walk in obedience and faith, hunger for him, and seek to know Him. He wants to give further revelation of Himself.

Often, however, as with the children of Israel, this revelation occurs in the midst of a crisis; and logically, crises are avoided as much as possible! Or, the solutions are often found in “covenants with the inhabitants of the land,” in other words, by the resources available in one’s culture; for example, we trust in our savings account, medical science, government, or insurance.

May something happen on this beautiful Sabbath day that will draw you to more knowledge of God.

About oneta hayes

ABOUT ME Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...

More knowledge of God a-men and a-men. This should be our life pursuit. This is a desperate need in today’s world. If more ‘believers’ truly were knowledgeable about our God (revealed in Jesus Christ and His Sacrifice (why and how and for what purpose), they could more effectively answer the questions of a society that (in supposed LOVE) twists everything that comes from the Kingdom of Absolute HOLINESS and tries to make it fit a carnal world. (Australia more than 40.000 years of history….yes……but thousands of indigenous have found they. from their pre=bible culture, all can meet up at the CROSS; KNOWLEDGE, Wisdom from God the Holy Spirit. 2019 more and more necessary. Thank you Oneta for your challenging post. Blessings!
