You claim you want peace and sweet release,
from the things that are holding you down.
But you hang on to bad habits
and they increase like rabbits.
With the upper-hand, they laugh like clowns.
They dangle you, jangle you, and plague you with frowns.
They know you’re all talk and you’ll never walk.
They have you zapped and you’ll stay entrapped
‘til you pull your silly self from their grasp.

ABOUT ME
Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...
Well done. 🙂
Thank you.
A very clever piece Oneta
I appreciate you saying that, Ivor. Thanks.
So true!
It can sure be a struggle that demands some determination. Thanks for the comment.
What a fun Six with a serious message! So glad you joined in this week 😀
Thanks for giving me the opportunity. I checked earlier but there were only two links. I’ll be back to read more of the Sixes. 😀
What a lesson in this for those who have EARS to HEAR and Spirits to RECEIVE. Well done!
I was preaching to myself also. Not easy to get out of entanglements and traps. But reliance on Jesus helps – if we don’t give up. Thanks for the comment.
Hanging on to bad habits do seem to increase like rabbits. Great imagery.
Great message in your Six.
Thank you, Pat. I don’t remember having met you before. I’ll run right over and see if I can find you. 😀
Painfully true. Some of us get lucky before it is too late…
I sometimes wish luck would help but I know I need the “muscles” to fight. I can only win with the Lord’s help; He is always willing, but I’ve got to move!
I have spent the last few days working with WordPress and Akismet techies to figure out why my comments on your post and several other WordPress blogs decided to vanish into thin air. It was so frustrating! But I believe we have it fixed now, and I wanted to stop back by and tell you how much I liked this clever little verse you wrote that holds so much truth! We do indeed get stuck in our bad habits and sometimes fail to realize that we hold the key to release. Well done!
How thoughtful of you! I also sometimes return to a site and think “I know I responded to this,” but I’ve never returned just for that purpose. You are kind. Hope you did not get too far behind. I’ve had to just give up a lot of blogging this last week. Lots of emergencies or near emergencies going on in my extended family. My husband and I are okay.
