TEN LITTLE PIGGIES

toe

Here I sit, cozy in my reading chair, feet propped on the bed.

Meditating on the majesty of the Creator,

Pulling bits of scripture from my head.

Mountains, space, sky, and sea…

When what a simple thought occurred to me!

My grand ideas centered on my toe….

Indeed on all ten Little Piggies, who go where I go.

……And I realized how wonderfully true

The Creator’s Masterpiece is me and you.

*************

My sons and their wives are sponsoring Sammy and me to a cruise in a few days. ReNee  was talking about the glory of God out in the open spaces and how easy it is to feel the Lord’s presence out on that ship.  I laughingly told her I had the same feeling last night while looking at my toes.  God said He could be found by those who seek him..  on the ocean, or just there in those Ten Little Piggies on the ends of my feet.  😀

Yep, those are my eighty-five year old piggies.  They have served me faithfully.  I can’t believe sometimes what things I blog about … picture of my bare feet!   Think majestic thoughts like “God” who proves his preciousness to me by giving me “toes.”

About oneta hayes

ABOUT ME Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...

Of course the first thing that came to mind was “This little piggy went to market…” That was one of my favorite games as a kid. I always giggled.

How wonderful, that you’re going on a cruise! It’s not my cup of tea, but I understand how it suits others, and it’s a great option for those who aren’t interested in or able to engage in actually sailing themselves around. I do agree that the open spaces of the water — and that horizon! — are wonderful. I can’t wait to hear your report!

I told ReNee I am praying that I can be gracious on this trip. Teasing her a little bit. But it something so unlike me. Sammy had his roots in the British Merchant Marines. I’m sure he will have a great time. The “party” is given to us as his 90th birthday gift. I guess I should blog about it in a few days because I will be out of pocket for a week or more.

And those ten little piggies are all polished and manicured. Please tell me you didn’t do that yourself. I haven’t been able to paint my toenails in quite a while. Hope you have a wonderful adventure.

I can’t even put on hose! I do get pedicures but not often. It has probably been at least two months. I only wear slippers and flip-flops so I guess that doesn’t wear too much on my toes. I get basic pedicure, $20; and if I don’t want to do that, I can get a polish change for $6. That’s a bargain.

    Hi Mrs. Hayes,
I replied to your comment on “two bibles.” 🙂

The Piggies oink occasionally but over all they have had fair manners. 😀 Yes, the cruise is a gift. I’m in need of getting this blood of mine on course to go safely with me. I expect the Piggies to be a little unstable, but I’m ready for the sail.

Great Gift and how true is your comment. The wonder of God is ever with those who have the eyes to see. In all and everything!. Happy sailing!
