WISDOM OF A CHILD

cistern

Isn’t this a pretty picture of a water cistern?  Cool, clear, soothing  – inviting one into a dreamland of small fishes and granted wishes, dancing fairies and luscious berries.

Come, troubled soul, what ease awaits.

You’ll leave trouble behind if you enter my gates.

Throw aside your cares and leap into the deep

Is life too rough?  Is it too steep?

To sorrow no more, neither to weep.

What cistern beckons to you?  Medicine, death, suicide, drugs, alcohol, more work?

These “cisterns” are steep.  Always difficult, sometimes impossible, to get out of.

I think of the wisdom of a little niece, Becky, who was watching her dad dig a septic tank.  As she looked in it, she said, “I sure don’t hope I fall down there.”

About oneta hayes

ABOUT ME Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...

Fall down to a septic tank? Hope no one does.
Unfortunately, in search of water, many in India, specially in rural places, dig unplanned bore wells and many innocent children have paid the ultimate price by falling inadvertently in those. Media makes a huge story for a few days about the rescue efforts and then moves on. Life goes on, sadly.

I believe children in our modern world who are not given ‘safety’ fences of good moral and spiritual guidance can indeed fall into ALL of the pits this very secular and carnal society will offer. Come as a little child to the ONE who came to save our souls. Encourage all children and all folks we know to Take His Hand. He will pull you up and lead you onward.
Thank you very much Oneta, Your blog certainly touched my soul. Thank you.
