86? WHAT NOW?

oneta bd

Yesterday is gone – the end of 85.

Not much to report except I’m still alive,

The future is at hand, the beginning of 86.

What will the year hold, with its treats and tricks?

************

The picture shows one birthday special.  Kristina brought the cake and these two lovely great-granddaughters, Kenlyn and Addalyn.

Flowers, lunch, cakes, calls, best wishes, cards, F B greetings – recognition of the day.

************

Back at the beginning of January I decided I would read five chapters of Psalms each day.  I am behind partly because of my playing last week.  However, it was a blessing this morning as I was reading Chapters 71-75.  I spied a nugget right there – Psalm 71:18.  “Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come.”

*******************

So now I’m 86, What now? Tricks or Treats?   I have some serious problems; I also have a Promise.  Problems do not go away but they are so much easier to handle when one knows God knows!  And if he did not cause them for our good, he will work them out for our good.  My desire, my hope.  To continue living a life of testimony to Jesus Christ who is Peace on this earth, and security in the next.  All glory, honor and love to my Father God, Savior Jesus Christ, and Comforter, the Holy Spirit.

About oneta hayes

ABOUT ME Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...

Thank you, Kathy. I still can’t find your proper URL. The one I get starts like this – LUKE SIX – BLESSED WORDS

I am sure you have something else. Help me. I have seen a different one but I don’t know where. It has pictures and poems. Maybe I am mixed up. But surely you have something more recent that I can’t find. Thanks for keeping up with me.

Thank you. Are you my mandibelle? The picture looks familiar, but I’ve lost the blog. Profile says closed. I’m looking for mandibelle who writes poetry that makes me study. 😀 Not the kind I have up top. Where are you?

Happy Birthday – you are such an inspiration – I so agree that knowing and following Christ makes all the difference to life – I have known Him for almost all of my (almost) 75 years – may His goodness and mercy follow you this coming year – Blessings Lois

People who start early with him don’t have so much baggage to drop when they start following Him. However, he is capable, willing, and eager to take one’s baggage no matter how large. I expect a good year is coming. Thanks, lois.

    Happy Birthday Oneta!

My mom is 88 and the other day she told me that some mornings it’s hard for her to know what her purpose is. (Her husband died a year ago Feb and she is almost completely blind) We started talking about all of the people she “touches”..whether it’s just a nice compliment to the check out girl or giving away copies of Jesus Calling which she is known to do. In the end, she realized that she does have a purpose and she is still touching people’s lives.

Your blog most certainly touches hearts out in the world as you share the love of Christ Oneta..and isn’t that amazing! The internet can be such a tool of the devil..but people such as yourself reclaim it for the Lord every time you post. What a precious opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives! And isn’t that the best birthday gift of all…knowing you are an active, engaged ambassador for Christ..reaching out to all the world, sharing the good news! 🥰 It’s just so wonderful!

It is very helpful to remind her of her present good deeds as well as remembering with her. The Word says “He will fulfill his purpose in us.” He won’t leave us floundering. Give her my greetings and respect. I have an aunt who is 89, nearly blind, and in a nursing home. She taught school in their small town. Many of her former students come to see her. They are a blessing and I assume they receive blessings from her. Purpose? Very important. Thank you, Sweet Cindy, for your lovely second paragraph. I treasure it.

Happy Birthday dear friend across the seas. My prayer is that you will be able to live for Him each day and write to inspire others on the journey. God indeed does continue to work in mysterious ways. May you continue to walk in that blessing and certainty.
