MY NEW ACCESSORY

Oneta wo accessory

I have a new accessory;

They say it’s a necessity.

I wish it were a bracelet or a purse.

I guess it could be something worse.

But I don’t like it, not one little bit.

I prefer music and puppies or even English lit.

Lots of variety in life I love.

Kitties and kites, and ducks and doves.

I love Jesus and people, and country and kings

Necklaces, shoes, baby goats, and rings.

BUT a plastic tube with two “pokkies”up my nose?

Supposed to make it easier to send blood to my toes!

My kids act like I have no voice,

Saying, “You’re gonna do it.  You have no choice.

And much as I nag, kick, and seethe,

I really do like to breathe.

So I asked the doctor, “Do I really have to?”

She said, “No, but you’ll live longer if you do.”

So as much as I hear the joys of Heaven beckon

I’ll choose to stay here a bit longer, I reckon.

About oneta hayes

ABOUT ME Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...

I’m sure it’s a bother, but I could hardly see it in the photo..I was too busy staring at your pretty scarf and pin..(My dog’s name is Daisy..so I am drawn to anything that looks like a daisy!)

  2. Alexis Rose says:

I didn’t notice it right. I was looking at your scarf and then I thought maybe you got new glasses. ❤️

You write about it so beautifully. So glad you decided you ‘needed’your new accessory…there’s yet a lot of your writing left to read. P.S. love the scarf.

  4. Lady Quixote/Linda Lee says:

You are beautiful, Oneta. And I love to read your poems and prose. ❤❤

  5. LOL! Charming post, Oneta! My poor hubby, he got concrete dust pneumonia, nearly left me, and so he spent the last few years on oxygen and a breathing machine at night. He’s off daytime oxygen now, healing nicely, so good news! But I empathize with you, it can be such a nuisance. On the other hand, it does clear your head and keep the blood going to your toes! 🙂

  6. Pokies— but who even notices with such a fetching scarf and brooch 🤗🤔

Honest to goodness, I didn’t even notice when I first looked at your photo. It was the scarf and the pin that attracted my attention. They’re so pretty! Once I understood what you were referring to, I had to agree — living is a good thing, and whatever helps us keep doing it is good. I wonder if they make those little tubes in different colors, to coordinate with your wardrobe?

You, Trusted Brilliant Friend, are just the person to come up with a solution. Now who will buy that idea – right now Democrats will buy anything. Coordinated breathing tubes. Not only sell to individuals but to hospitals also, They should adore this amenity to show their love of diversity for various personalities. What a thought! Watch for a great large cabin boat for us when we get out initial payment. No yachts yet. We might want to customize one when the money rolls in.

  8. I didn’t notice at first either! I’m sure it makes you feel much better though. 😊

I thank God for modern helps. Your smile radiates and it is not unusually obvious. Now that 1/2 the world is wearing face mask because of the Corona Virus You actually look very elegant. Love, understanding and joy for all that you will yet be. xxF.

  10. Yes, stay a bit longer! God bless you.
