Though purchased for me in ‘53
it was chipped as you can see
and I wanted new so I pouted;
“I won’t touch it,” I screamed and shouted.
Sibling one – thought it was fun;
Sibling two – mastering keys, his fingers flew;
Sibling three – practiced with glee;
Sibling four – played a complex score.
—I know now, I didn’t win, as I ponder what might have been.

This is mostly fiction, but it has the bones of truth. 😀 Another former blog pulled up to fit Discover Prompt for today. Truth is my parents could not afford a piano until I was grown. Truth is also that I had three siblings not four. Two played the piano, one played guitar.
Discover prompt: Instrument

ABOUT ME
Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...
I took piano lessons when I was younger… I hated practicing. I regret not keeping with it, however. I admire who can play so effortlessly. Maybe one day?
Perhaps you, like me, ignore the fact that they practiced! Few things we can do without practice, even writing.
I have four little sisters and brother. We don’t play instruments, but we do play with each-other.
🙂 A lot!
Would personally have loved to have had even access to a piano. I know how disappointed I felt when my first typewriter came and it was not new. The same with my bike…BUT…..lessons learned carried us in my family, all through life. Thank you for your blog.
