SUNDAY LEFTOVERS: WHEN IN A FIGHT FOR YOUR LIFE

When the king and all his forces are united against you and you are in a fight for your life, these are good left-overs from my online visit to Ken Isom’s Sunday School class.

Ken relates a personal story of when he was in charge of a Teen Challenge group. Teen Challenge was on a shoe string budget when the cook quit. Bad news to have a COOK quit when you have twenty or so young men to feed. But bad news had only begun. The public school which had been providing classes, quit doing so leaving them no plans, no material. Building inspectors ordered that a sprinkling system must be installed for fire safety. And to top it off, there would be a $500 a day fine until it was done.

Ken said he was rather relieved at the last bit of bad news. Do you know why? Because he now recognized the situation was far more than he could handle. At first he started making plans about appealing to his supporters for help and for anything else he, personally, could do to get money. But at the last bad news, he recognized it was a time to appeal to God! The same God who rescued Jehoshaphat when King Ahab and three other united forces was coming against Israel.

America is in a fight for its life. He gave this advice about voting: Make your decision on the Bible standards. 1. Sanctity of life 2. Sanctity of marriage 3. regard for religious freedom (I, at this point add this to the left-overs. 4. we must be a friend to Israel.)

God did come through for Israel as they fasted and prayed and sought God for help. God told them “The Battle is Not Yours, but Mine” (2 Chron. 20:15-17) “You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you….The Lord will be with you.”

What did the people do? They fasted and prayed, then went out to meet the enemy with singing and praises to God for the splendor of his holiness!

What did God do? He set ambushes against the enemy.

What did the enemy do? They turned against each other and “destroyed one another…until no one had escaped.” (verse 24)

GOOD LEFT-OVERS FOR US TO “EAT ON” THIS WEEK. LET THE PRAISES BEGIN.

About oneta hayes

ABOUT ME Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...

    WISE WORDS—-ARE YOU LISTENING??????

  2. Frank Hubeny says:

It is good when one gets enough bad news that one realizes one must appeal to God. One can’t do it alone.

  3. You are always my anchor of home!!!

  4. That would be HOPE— love my phone and thumbs

    Let’s His Praises ring forth!!!!!

Yes, amen to that. Faith makes it possible to praise before the deliverance. Then we remember to say thanks, don’t we? He has done great things and he will continue to do so.

  6. Janis says:

Thanks for the wonderful message you’ve imparted, truly, “The Battle is Not OURS, it’s HIS”

There was much good in that lesson. Ken was the asst. pastor for whom I worked several years. I listen to his teaching whenever I get a chance. Maybe I can share other tidbits as time rolls along. Thanks for the comment.

I led our study last Friday and our topic was Micah 6:8 (the things GOD has required of us) and I inserted this story as a reference, about walking humbly with the LORD – when he recognized the situation being far from what he can handle… Very timely…

America is in a fight for life. YES.

And vote in person. Because the tyrant is now ready to steal the election with a stuffed supreme court ready to nullify counting of mail in ballots and a postal service head ensuring that mail in ballots take minimum ten days to be delivered.

Seems fortune always favors the liers and cheaters.

Hello, Pranab. You seem to be just dismal enough to make a great Democrat. 😀 I’m joking a little to let you know I’m alert. Have you noticed that about Trump haters. There is very little in the world that they do love. Not cars, nor babies, nor freedom, nor jobs, nor red meat, nor Christians, nor laws, nor country, nor the Constitution, nor history, nor great men of the past, nor great women of the present. Sorry you are in such company. No wonder you are sad.
By the way, do you know what a stacked court is? It is certainly not what Trump has done? Did the Democrats do it when they put five or six liberals on the court? No, they didn’t. Neither did President Trump when he nominated the fifth conservative. A “stacked court” is adding more Justices in order to make one side dominant. President Trump and the Republican Senate could have done that. That is what Biden (Dems) say they will do. If they win, we will see. There are many ways they can play dirty-handed. Republicans know about them. They just don’t do them. Bad company, Pranab.

Glad to hear from you Oneta after a long time.
Have you heard about being “accessory to murder”? Keep supporting your lying hero and your seat in hell will be confirmed. Not that I shall mind because then I shall have an opportunity to meet you there😀.

        • oneta hayes says:

Yes, I’ve heard of the “accessory to murder” – 18 or 19.
But she and Bill will never be accountable. My reservation was made for me in heaven.

          • pranabaxom says:

Ah, your blind support for the conman ensures that we shall tango in hell😀

          • pranabaxom says:

I hope during the next four years I have the opportunity to sip some tea with you under the languid, southern sun and try to find some common ground between pro choice and pro life for pro American.
And of course the bear hug still waits and I have to take some dancing lessons to tango with you in hell (never danced).
Take care and stay safe partner.
