IN THINE OWN HEART

IN THINE OWN HEART

Though Christ a thousand times

In Bethlehem be born

If he’s not born in thee

Thy soul is still forlorn

The cross on Golgotha

Will never save thy soul

The cross in thine own heart

Alone can make thee whole.

(From the German of Angelus Silesius.)

About oneta hayes

ABOUT ME Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...

Good point expressed in these lines: “If he’s not born in thee
Thy soul is still forlorn”. I would only add that such a one has no idea what he’s missing.

    Merry Christmas, Oneta!

Wow, this is so good, Sister–I agree with Frank that people who’ve not received the Lord are clueless as to All that they’re missing. HE is so Big and all-encompassing…I’m just grateful I belong to Him! Much love, Jael

Yes, see my comment above to Frank. You are a new gift to me. Thanks for making your presence known to me. Blogging is so much more satisfying to me when it builds relationships. Merry Christmas Day today!

Oh how lovely to be a gift–I totally agree about building a few good relationships ❤ I hope you're having a marvelous Christmas Day–I'm so happy I feel like it's all a dream! God is SO GOOD!

If I see my soul I shall ask. Must have been in a long sojourn 😀.

    Merry Christmas Oneta.

Maybe that is a inkling of what I nag you about. Maybe being “reborn” is what that is about. Birth of the Spirit in Christ. Ahh, Pranab, with your tenacity, you would be a mighty follower of Christ. I will think more on this subject. Being reborn/finding one’s soul?
I wish for you a lovely Christmas Day today and a fruitful year to come. I’m outta here to my sister’s house in a bit. My own family has not been cofid-free long enough for me to be safe with them today.

Nah, I am on my way to Nirvana. “Moksha” is my goal. So no coming back😀

      • pranabaxom says:

Sorry to hear that you won’t be able to be with your family today. Hope everyone recovers soon and you shall be able to have a normal family get together.. Let’s hope that all of us can get back to living normally soon. Merry Christmas Oneta.
By the way, you will make a perfect Hindu. I can visualize you doing kirtan in an ISKON temple. I never have been to one but heard that the temples are beautiful 😀.

Say, what? Not throwing away what I have! My granddaughter who has four girls and her husband all had covid. Started with a couple of them then staggered down among all. Her husband was last to get sick. Maybe we are on the last count down. Doctor won’t give the go ahead yet. Hope your day was nice. Weather here is perfect today.
