As our country becomes more and more secular, it is imperative that we provide more ways to influence our families.

ABOUT ME
Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...
Teaching is quite a job, but it’s so worth it, isn’t it? Especially those times you run into former students, and they tell you what they remember about your class. ❤

Thank you. I made a copy. I’ll insert it with my Christmas activities. I doubt that I will ever teach again but I am trying to organize my stuff in such a manner that it will be helpful to others.
As new generations have come along I find that what mom and dad taught me is no longer “woke” enough for our media, or even for our schools. But the Bible is still available in abundance; it still shows the path that is right. It will endure long after I’m gone. My hope.

I know my journey and my life was very different. I had to find my own way. The secular swamped everything but I was born with this hunger to find for myself the TRUTH. Thank God for the Bible as my reference Handbook but life and the journey through it was where I have really discovered and KNOW the Great I AM of life.. Jesus Christ is now my absolute TRUTH and although I have taught scripture and passionately loved and cared for my students, Life and God the Holy Spirit has been my greatest Teacher. I Pray I will be able to complete before I die my Memoir – not about me but how the shy frightened little girl did find through the minefield of different cultures and life Who Jesus really is. Shafts of GOLD is what I never felt I wanted to write but as I see secularism and anachy rising I believe it is what the Lord wants written as a Legacy. I love your writing and teaching. I also had a rich background but cross-cultural ideologies ……..Always LOVE and that is His ANCHOR to our souls. Bless you!
Nothing can beat a book for leaving a legacy. I had to make my way to the cross for salvation just as any other sinner. But I believe it is a lot easier to be an overcomer if one accepts the Lord early in life, and if one has a “support” system. The danger in being born and raised in a Christian family is in coming to realize your spirit if dead to Christ as any other human on earth. So, there is victorious testimony on either route. Solomon however, advises to “remember the Creator in the days of your youth” so one can’t get started too soon.
Having been raised in a secular home where the kids were driven to Sunday School each week, but mom and dad didn’t attend church except Easter and Christmas…I had a lot of things to “unlearn” as I made my journey with Jesus. I’m grateful for all the good teaching available today, particularly on TV and Internet–because the Bible was pretty much like Math until a number of pastor/Bible teachers gave me sufficient light and insight that I could then develop a hunger for diving into God’s Word on my own…which is my greatest pleasure each day 🙂 Blessings to you, Sister ❤
Aren’t we thankful, Jesus did everything necessary to draw people from every nation, every ethnic group, every social status, every intellectual range, and whatever I have left out. He pulls us to Himself and we are family! Praise Him! Jael, how do you pronounce your name? Is it Jay-El, like I have learned from the Bible OT heroine? She was a lady with spunk. You show some of her qualities.
Smiling. I did wonder about your mother naming you Jael. You said they took you to church but seldom went. So I thought it was quite a coincidence about your name and your personality matching so well. 😀
Unfortunately my mother gave me 2 names which at the time were apparently used mostly for boys…this caused me no end of grief in school. These days it seems that “any” name goes–and people sort it out. I only share my real first and middle names with a few people–“Leslie Rene”–which would be pretty, if it hadn’t led to me being assigned to the boys gym/P.E. class in Junior High, which was traumatic to say the least. I use different names on different blogs–but I’m glad God has a special name for us…in the meantime, He calls us “beloved daughter” (or son). I really like “Jael”–and if I ever get a book published, I’ll likely use that 🙂 So nice to chat with you today, Sister Oneta–hope you’re enjoying the remains of the holiday season ❤
Thank you, Dear IB. I’m in awe of how you get things done. I’m glad I don’t like coffee because, if I did, I would have to give it up in order to take your post as my stimulant for the day. So like others need their coffee, I need my IB. 😀 I am expecting to be well paid for those words. Give me a knock out tomorrow! No pressure or anything, just regular IB blend.
I want to pay tribute to wonderful people I have known, the wonderful country in which I live, the communities in which I have lived, the churches who have claimed me as their own, the God who sends shivers down my back when I really give him a portion of my time—well, maybe not shivers but tears flow easily in some of those most priceless times.

I like connecting what was taught with a family member, not some book or school. I especially liked what mom and dad taught.

I confess I’m using “Jael” as a pseudonym–and yes, she’s probably my favorite heroine in the Bible…spunky, for sure!
