“Sunday morning at CQC Network! Welcome to News-Notes,” announced Bud. “Any locals, Mindy?”
“Sure,” said charming Mindy. “Before the mundane and anti-climatic world news, we have a local celebration going on. It started eighty-seven years ago today, January 24, 1934.
Applause began in the audience some of whom were in the know regarding persons of distinction in their county.
Mindy continues, “We have our Honoree from that day. There she is. Stand up, Oneta Hayes, we want a good look. Not that anyone would overlook you with your face placarded all around the town.”
Oneta bowed humbly as the Happy Birthdays rolled.
