Last night as I went to bed, I thought of places you had laid your head.
I lie there in cozy comfort. There must have been evenings when your tired body hurt.
I imagined Martha as I would have been, making up the very best
For you to lie down and get some rest.
This morning as I sit here, this heating pad feels so dear
The rocking chair turns round, so I can prop my feet up on the wall or on the bed beside me.
I’m arranging for us to meet for our morning chat. I really do like it like that.
Oh, Jesus, do you find that very funny,
To see me struggle as I snuggle to welcome you.
……Aw, now I catch a glimpse of you, and I’m humbled that I do.
Again I hear your precious greeting,
Saying, “Here I am. Let’s have our meeting.”
And I say, “Jesus, you are so dear. It’s such a joy to have you here.”
