BAKER’S DOZEN, 3/17

First off I want to give Thanks and Praise to the Lord for a good cardiologist’s report yesterday. Medical folks went in panic mode a couple weeks ago and sent me to ER when someone found a dissected aorta in my neck. The doctor said has been like that since the dissection in my heart so I’m chronic and stable. There is no disturbance to the blood flow. She basically says I’m a mess but no bigger mess than I have been the last nine years. I’ve been telling you all that. Maybe it was time for me to say it again. I’m a walking, talking miracle. I’ll settle for that. Thanks, Jesus.

In reference to the subject of age in heaven (post yesterday), I want to relate this incident. My ninety(ish) grandmother (G. Vida) was in the hospital. I asked her how her night had been. She said that it was nice, that Pete had stayed the night with her as she pointed to the chair in which he sat. At that time Pete (my daddy, her son) had been dead 20 years or so. She had no mental challenges to our knowledge. Vision? Spirit? Whatever it was, she was comforted by his presence.

Perhaps there is some truth to evolution. The part about the body adapting body parts to fit the need. For instance I see as I get older that my ears are bigger. Scientists probably think that would be because of my need to have larger megaphones to catch the sounds needed my by weakening and waning little ear bone receivers.

I know of no one who calls another a racist who is not a racist him/herself. Just listen and judge for yourself.

If Meagan Markel just didn’t know she were part black, it would be a non-issue. She is the one who is playing the race card. And she has done quite well, financially and socially from it. Who ever heard of her before she married Harry? Anybody believe Harry was raised by a racist family? Why, oh, why then did he marry Meagan? So his descendants would be a mixed race? So the Queen might prefer Kate to Meagan? So do I! Grace vs The Whiner. If you are paid millions by England’s taxpayers to perform a royal duty, do it!

Same thing for the President of the USA. If you are paid to do a job, do it. And do as little damage as you can manage.

Back to that bit about my big ears. It is a fortunate thing for me that they are bigger. Now I stack glasses, oxygen tube, mask, amplifier/ear buds, behind them. I still need room for a second mask? Maybe they will be big enough in three or four more years.

So today, Dr. Fauci thinks social distancing of three feet might be enough! Do tell, do tell. In all my years of teaching, dining, sitting in auditoriums, etc two/three feet was about right. It was called personal space. What most businesses are set up for anyway. And schools!

I have some blog followers who are so faithful to me. My goal is to answer back all “likes” and comments; I do that most of the time. However, some are blogs I do not understand, perhaps in another language. Some do not have place for comments. Anyway I want you to know I hop over to your place anyway, even if is only to add a click to your blog. Thank you; you are good to me when you leave a like so I know you have visited even though I do not comment back.

Babylon Bee is hilarious. They point out that Meagan M. is inclined to be President of the USA. Her job as Princess of UK was just to hard on her, and the criticism is just too harsh.

Oh, before I forget. Back to evolution of the species. At this point noses get larger with age. I wonder how long it will be before they start getting smaller. You know – The Covid Effect, caused by the inability to smell.

Ben Franklin said “Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.” And we question why we are losing our freedom! Out with Dr. Seuss and in with Carli B? You must be kidding!

Number 13. God says very nearly the same thing in the Bible. Live and see how much further we can live in degradation. You get to choose sides. Wisdom says “Go with God.”

About oneta hayes

ABOUT ME Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...

I like the thought that her son, your deceased father, spent the night with your grandmother however that may have occurred. I suspect we are all walking, talking miracles assuming we can walk or talk at all. I have done my best not to know who Meagan Markel is, but I’m afraid I know as much about her as I do about Dr. Fauci, which isn’t much. Two or three foot separation does seem to be what most of us would call normal.

I love your posts. They’re always filled with wit and wisdom.

  3. Janis says:

I am glad you’re fine despite the chronic condition. You are indeed a miracle!

I don’t know if that’s how it is in America but in the Philippines, there’s this saying, “the bigger your ears, the longer your life will be…”

As for Megan, I wish she didn’t do that Oprah interview. We don’t know what’s going on in the palace and we wouldn’t know the other party’s stance on the matter since they won’t react the same way for sure. It’s just that all I know is we know how monarchy is… there’s more than enough princess movies to take reference from and they’re never not like how she described it… it’s exactly how we’ve known it. Marrying into it is accepting how they are unless she did perhaps think they’d change for her? I don’t disagree with Megan if those things were true— but if I were her, I will just leave gracefully, since I’ve got my prince anyway! Thank God I am not a princess!

Yes, she has the prince and the prince’s money. Even though it is less than that of a working Prince, it is not bad! If they didn’t like the job, then they were right to “retire.” Accept retirement pay and quit whining. 😀 Thank you for sharing your opinion. It is important to me.

  4. I had been wondering about your little procedure but as you’ve been blogging away I decided all was well!
I feel sorry mostly for the Queen— first her uncle was selfish and self absorbed—-very much like his great great nephew we know today.
Because of her uncle’s selfishness her father had to take on a role he never wanted— but was not the world blessed during the war to have such steady and dedicated leadership?
His premature death sadly thrust a young bride and mother into a role she did not necessarily want and yet she too rose to the occasion…all at a great personal cost.
The steady reigns however seem to have skipped part of a generation as Charles and Andrew have given their mother fits— thank goodness William seems more like his grandmother— steadfast — although he has his mother’s endearing smile

It was a bit frightening. You want the truth? I was trying to figure out how to leave a good-bye to you folks and show my daughter-in-law how to log in when the day came. Or I considered trying to contact you directly and ask you to say my good-byes for me. I’m glad I get to continue the chapter I was on. But Paul speaks of us moving “from glory to glory” so whatever is in the future it must be glorious. He is speaking of our spirits however. I’m not so sure about our earthly situation. It seems dire. I like your commentary about the Queen. She has been gracious to her people and a champion warrior for her country.

      • Well— ‘like’ is not exactly an appropriate response now is it??
I think this little bombshell needs a more careful and thoughtful reply— first, thank you thinking about me being a torch bearer but I don’t think I’m quite prepared to take that tour here— not yet— I still have too much to learn!!
The young Jedi is not yet worthy master Yoda — too much love yet to share and wisdom to impart have you!!!
        🥰

Shocking, isn’t it? The fiery darts of Satan were flying. I guess I’m telling you this, Sweet Julie, because another twenty years or so does not make one (me) immune to the need to hold on to Jesus. Of course the more trials he walks you through, the more sure you can be of his deliverance to come. But the victory still was sealed in the same scriptures I held on to in 2013. And the time when Jesus said to me “I’m Still Your Healer.” Thank you for your kind words. As I leave for the evening, I’m thinking of the song, “I Need Thee, Oh, I Need Thee; every hour I need Thee.” Oh, how Splendid He Is! Good night.

  6. I am glad you are well. Praise God for the good report!

  7. grAnnie Roo says:

I thank God for you daily and am glad to see you – whether here or at home, dear Oneta.

    • oneta hayes says:

You steadfastly hang in with me, don’t you, Roo. Thanks. I need friends like you. But I caution you that we must keep our focus on Jesus. He’s the reason we will have a reunion somewhere sometime. What a joy that will be.
