LORD, YOU ARE SO GOOD

Oneta Ruth Hayes

For your delight with the Lord today, try personalizing Ps. 21:1-7 (below). You will have something like this:

I rejoice in your strength, Lord. How great is my joy in the victories you give! You have given me my heart’s desire and have not withheld the request of my lips. You came to greet me with rich blessings and placed a crown of pure gold on my head. I asked you for life, and you gave it to me – length of days, for ever and ever. Through the victories you gave, my glory is great; you have bestowed on me splendor and majesty. Surely you have granted me unending blessings and made me glad with the joy of your presence.

******

Okay, I haven’t really received a “kingly” crown of pure gold, or splendor or majesty. But in reality I have received strength, victories, heart’s desire, blessings, life, length of days, and the joy of his presence. And the touch of his hand on my head is so much more than a crown of gold.

*************

The king rejoices in your strength, Lord.
    How great is his joy in the victories you give!

You have granted him his heart’s desire
    and have not withheld the request of his lips.[b]
You came to greet him with rich blessings
    and placed a crown of pure gold on his head.
He asked you for life, and you gave it to him—
    length of days, for ever and ever.
Through the victories you gave, his glory is great;
    you have bestowed on him splendor and majesty.
Surely you have granted him unending blessings
    and made him glad with the joy of your presence.
For the king trusts in the Lord;
    through the unfailing love of the Most High
    he will not be shaken.

About oneta hayes

ABOUT ME Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...
