Dan is standing in for Linda this week with the prompt for SoCS. He suggests one, two, or all of the following three words: inspire/aspire/expire
So I hope to inspire you with the following Stream of Consciousness.
Sometime before I expire I aspire to inspire some bloggers and other readers to set reasonable aspirations for themselves and strive to fulfill them to the place that they will hear “Well done, Good and Faithful Servant” on the day of the expiration.
First one should be honest and accountable for his abilities. The Bible describes this situation in the form of Talents give to each person. Some people are blessed with ten talents; others, five talents; and others only receive one talent. I have no reason to believe so but I do believe most people are one talent people. The world needs these people performing at their best. We would be in a mess if everybody were ten talent. Can you imagine how we would flood the world with too many ideas and not enough one talent people to get the job done!
This causes a lot of envy and strife because too many people with one talent what what the ten talent people have. However, the eternal rewards will be the same based on how well one used his talent(s). Many one talent people will have achieved their aspirations before they expire. Many ten talent people will die never having been inspired to aspire to their true abilities.
Me? I have to be honest about what I have done in this life; I am getting near the end. I am not a ten talent person. I would be miserable if I tried to do what ten talent people can do. I do think I have had five talents because I have had several different paths in which I have walked and I thoroughly enjoy/enjoyed all of them. – Well, one I never achieved. I always wanted to play the piano; never made enough sacrifice to do that. I no better than a “get-by” cook, but I never aspired to be one.
I do believe I had a ten talent sister. I believe she heard the “Well Done, My Good and Faithful Servant.” How can one want more!

A rule in SoCS is to not edit. Great! Don’t have to proof this one. Thanks, Dan, for keeping us on the move with this challenge this week. https://lindaghill.com/2021/10/01/the-friday-reminder-and-prompt-for-socs-october-1-2021/
words of great encouragement my aspiring friend
Thank you. The sheriff must be napping, giving you a bit of blogging time. Good weekend to you, Julie.
Gone now they are— the mayor came last night with their mom and dad and left this morning— I blogged the past couple days while he did nap and now I’m melted in a chair overcome with exhaustion 😉
You did well with this prompt. You’ve inspired me to think about the talents I might have and whether I’m doing enough with them. Good job!
Bonus points and a free drink are yours 😏
Hey, there. I thank you for the goodies – bonus, drink, and words. Words are the best. They reached me immediately; I have to wait for UPS to get the bonus and drink. 😀 Thanks, Dan. It is good to meet you.
It’s nice to meet you , too,
Isn’t that what we all want to hear: “Well done good and faithful servant.” Thank you for continually inspiring us – and for your humour, too 🙂
Yes, and it is good that the one, five, and ten talent people are all judged on the same standard. Did they use their talents well. Thanks for the kind words to me.
This is very wise.
Thank you. I enjoyed your poem for SoCS today. Will see you more.
so very wise, great aspirations for an expiring inspirator! well done Oneta 🙂
If we get it done, it must be before expiring. Thanks for coming by, Kate. Best to you.
always a pleasure, thanks Oneta!
I have many interests that in retirement tend to pull me in too many different directions. You’ve inspired me to prioritize and focus more energy on my God given talents.
Thanks for coming over, JoAnna. You know I don’t believe “doers” can ever undo. 😀 Thanks for coming over and for leaving me word that you were here.
Amen. Thank you for sharing words of encouragement needed on our Christian (Spiritual) Journey.
Thanks for returning my visit. I like to know with whom I am making a connection. You are young and needed greatly. Keep blogging and inspiring. 😀
