Ah, Sweet Mystery! According to I Cor. 4:1,2 we are servants and stewards of the mysteries of God. I Tim. 3:16 says that one of those mysteries is that Christ appeared in the flesh.
He could have appeared in the flesh as a grown man in the form that God created Adam, but he chose to come as a baby! One who very likely had to be burped to settle his tummy.
If I were given the option of being younger and having a do-over, I would probably say yes. Oh, they say, how young? I would choose forties or fifties. I was fairly well equipped for life by then.
But no, they say, you have to be a baby again. Oh, no, never!
I don’t want to be helpless. I don’t want to have to download this empty computer in my head. All my data would be gone! I want to go back with all my equipment! My bed is worth about forty bucks but I like it. Can I have it?
No, actually, you will have a manger at first. A little later you will have a crib your daddy will make for you. But you won’t have it long. Soon you will be fleeing your home. Then maybe you will have a cart to sleep in. Or maybe a tent.
No, my mind is made up. A baby again? No even tempted! Oh, no, never!
BUT JESUS DID.
