Bang, clang, jug-a-lug. The ride was rough. Joe and Jill sat in the front; Jill drove. I could not see because they were both in the front; I was in the back. All this hoopla because my nose wouldn’t quit bleeding.
We arrived at the destination. Nineth floor; the Covid floor. No, Covid wasn’t the reason for the nose bleed, but it was “intercepted” amidst other blood work.
However it happened, I’m left wondering if someone got a big “Covid” bonus because I had a nose bleed. I did need the Vitamin K which was administered to stop the bleeding.

ABOUT ME
Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...
I recently had an INR from a lab that was 8.0! But the finger stick that same day was 3.9, just a little over my therapeutic range. Back in therapy range now, 2.0-3.5, but the lab must have made an error, because the adjustments I made and vitamin K should have brought it back; instead it dropped to 1.2! Dangerously low for someone with six ischemic strokes behind me!
❤️&🙏, c.a.
Glad someone knew what to do and got you out of that danger zone.
There have been times in the past two years when we’ve needed to take these risks for the greater good. I’m always grateful there were people who did their jobs and stepped up to the mark when needed.
I agree that they are noble and are to be thanked. I don’t think they should be fired because they don’t take the vax. I also have doubts about Medicare paying more for covid patients than others. Thanks for the comment.
Covid nose bleeds would cause world panic. I am amazed how many medical conditions are discovered by a blood test.
My blood was being tested because of the high INR number. It was at 11.7. The nose bleed was caused by that. They gave me Vit K to drive that down and it worked. The “Covid” run just seemed to be a convenient extra that fits the panic climate.
i don’t know if this was supposed to be funny? but i can’t help but smile. 🙂
The situation was amusing. Smile anytime you have an option. 😀
It’s all very difficult to sort out in Covid Time, and your story illuminates a few of the ambiguities. Hoping the Vitamin K stops the bloody nose.
Yes, it stopped. My cardiologist took the Covid story rather lightly. She said she was glad I came through it with only small disruptions. Small disruptions but I have been quarantined a long time. Of course, now it is because of the stormy weather.
So sorry to hear you have/had Covid, Oneta, but happy you survive(d) it.
Yes! I’m going to get out of here in about fifty minutes. On my way to the salon to get a wax and nails. I’m all ready!
🙂
Gosh… at least the nose bleed stopped!
Yes! I found what kicked me off with the problem. Vitamin E! Vitamin K was the answer. I love tomato juice and tomato soup, but I have to curb that desire.
Troubling times, made worst by the worries about covid, well told
I am glad to have passed the Covid test. I am no longer going to be overwhelmed by its threat. Hope you are doing well. As our world gets more complicated and more “worldwide” we will probably see more of this kind of threat. Just have to place my faith in the Lord and move on.
Sounds like you’ve been through a difficult time. Glad you’re through it.
January was a difficult month. However, we are now coming on to a new dawn! I am grateful. Thanks for your comment.
I like the way you tell this story – “All this hoopla because my nose wouldn’t stop bleeding”. I love the resentful tone, as if the nose has a mind of its own and could be controlling itself if it chose.
There is some kind of scripture where God talks about making a king, I think, do certain things by guiding him with a hook in the nose. Okay, I looked it up. Seconds Kings 19:28. Funny. My nose was leading my life at that time; I’m quite sure “resentful” was a chosen word. 😀
So sorry for your nose bleed and your run to the hospital. No one wants to go there during these times with Omicron on the scene. Glad the vitamin K stopped it!
Thanks for the comment, Brenda. It was not a jolly January for me. Today I am back to my schedule which includes going to the Town Center to walk. I’m ready!
Oh, that’s good to hear, Oneta. Walking is good for the body and emotions. Take care!
I did it. Four thousand steps; for me that is about equal to one and a half miles. It was harder but it will get easier in a few days.i
