Just today I read about Galveston hiring new lifeguards for the season. This doesn’t look like a very safe swimming spot, but it certainly looks like a lifeguard’s chair!
I considered using a picture of a lighthouse, but it seemed a step above what I wanted to point out might be a non-essential job – one that would be closed due to covid mandate. I consider a professor’s aide more non-essential than a lifeguard. I don’t know if I have ever actually seen a professor teach his/her class. Oh, I know, I’m exaggerating a bit.
Oh! Covid never crossed my mind. I never think about it anymore unless I happen across a specific reference. Now I get your point!
I only used it as a convenient example A lot of local governments and private businesses are having to downsize. For instance, a school might decide to cut expenses by cutting the hours for a crossing guard. That sort of thing. Thanks for the comment. It drives me to think deeper.
