Sean Penn! That was my reaction when I heard it from the Holy Spirit.
Last Saturday, I was sitting with my husband, sons, and daughter-in-law. We were discussing the importance of praying in an unknown tongue/language. I told them one of the strangest things that I ever experienced regarding that topic. Let me tell you about it.
A few years ago, as I prayed, I sensed the words “Sean Penn.” Sean Penn! I knew nothing about that guy except that I thought he was an ugly actor. But I did pray. Probably at least partly in English, maybe in tongues. I don’t remember.
That was on Saturday that I talked with my family. On Monday or Tuesday night there was Sean Penn on Hannity, and he was telling of his experiences and involvement in Ukraine. I have no explanation at all except that I am now convinced the need for prayer for Sean Penn that day involved the need regarding Ukraine. At least that is what I think I know. 😀
I tell you people who sit on the edge in following Christ, you are missing some of the most amazing adventures that the Holy Spirit would like to walk you through. You’ll not find it in “eat, drink, and be merry.”
(In case any of you know Sean Penn, tell him the Lord is using him whether he knows it or not; you need not tell him I think he is ugly. That wouldn’t be nice.)
Oneta, I have prayed for celebrities before after reading or hearing about their troubles, and years later found out they had been saved and were giving their talents to serving Christ. You’re right, prayer is an adventure!
(My favorite t-shirt says, “If being a Christian is boring, you’re doing it wrong.” 😏)
Love that t-shirt. Love of the Lord and love of mammon do not walk together in ease. I know there are some Christian celebrities who make good role models, but they are not the ones who are most visible generally. Most young people are drawn to the edge.
Although I don’t know much about Sean Penn, may none of us miss out on those amazing adventures the Holy Spirit wants us to walk through.
James and John were not called the Sons of Thunder because of their timidity.
As for Sean Penn being ugly, I suspect he has looked in a mirror. But God even spoke through the High Priest who rallied the crowd to yell “Crucify Him; give us Barrabas; we have no king but Ceasar!” (John 11:49-52)
❤️&🙏, c.a.
I also have looked in the mirror. Thankfully God doesn’t check me out in that way. It is sad that we place so much value on looks. Perhaps my saying “ugly” distracted from the point of my post, which was that the Holy Spirit is well able to direct one in prayer. Even one as ignorant about celebrities as I.
Yes, I was not distracted, but you said it so well, there was nothing to add to the main point.
. . . but he IS ugly. 😂
😀 Which has nothing to do with the Lord’s using him. We agree.
