UPON THIS TRUTH

I’m using a poem written by Bill to emphasize a foundational truth on which to hook our spiritual Monday moorings. We throw out the anchor. In so doing, we hope to point out some fundamentals of the Gospel. Jesus died, was buried, rose again-the process by which he atoned for our sins. He was the sacrificial Lamb by whose blood we are saved!

Mary had the blessed Lamb, a gift from God, the great I AM.

For by grace we are truly saved, his precious life he freely gave.

Through the blood that he did shed, with a crown of thorns upon his head,

He gave atonement for my sin, the greatest gift there’s ever been.

He rose again on day three, so one and all could be set free.

Through faith in him, I must confess all my sins and wretchedness.

In Jesus Christ I do believe, and with my heart I so receive.

The Gift of God, his only Son, Our Messiah, the Holy One.

Thanks, Bill, for helping me present this simple truth. https://onetahayes.com/2022/06/19/comfort-for-a-broken-father/

About oneta hayes

ABOUT ME Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...

This is great! I would love to read what Bill might write about the baptism into the Holy Ghost, as is feels as though this has been a neglected doctrine in the last couple decades, at least in my circles. Please pray for me as I am praying about this and what I should blog about the clear teaching that John the Baptist, Jesus and the apostles all expected in a second definite work of grace.
(See Acts 19:2 ““Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?”)

That is a doctrinal issue that I do not get into much since I am now in a Baptist church, even though I was raised Pentecostal Holiness and still believe very much what they teach. The KJV says “…since you believed.” That is a lot different than “….when you believed.” I believe both. 😀 The Holy Spirit comes in when you believe and an experience as described in Acts 2:4 “….since you believed.” But I don’t believe in stirring up conflict about secondary truths. I don’t know what Bill believes.
