“What are you going to do with that?”
I really didn’t know for sure. It was certainly not what I went out looking for that day. But there it was standing on an easel in the resale shop. My heart fell in love with this approximate two-foot by three-foot piece of art! And it was only ten dollars!
But it was something I could not carry in my bag and stow away snugly into a corner of a closet.
I’ll show you on another day where it ended up, but now I will tell you why I instantly loved it. In the picture below you can see my brother, Clyde, singing it with his daughter, Rebecca. Clyde sang the song often over the last few decades. I guess this was his last time. Most of the time he sang solo. I do, however, remember my two sisters and I singing with him; I think at my mother’s 80th birthday celebration; that was in 1993.
Clyde followed the Light right into Heaven’s Harbor about two weeks after this picture was taken.
Jesus said in John 14:6 “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

The Lighthouse: Written by Ronny Hinson in 1970
What a perfect illustration for the song! I love lighthouses!
When I was a teen, I read books called “Meg of Mystery Mountain, Nan of the Gypsies, and Rilla of the Lighthouse.” I loved those make believe heroines. Don’t remember details of the stories, however. I think I have Rilla of the Lighthouse here somewhere. Maybe I will find it as I continue my book research.
That would be awesome! We are watching Antiques Road show, you could take it there if you found them!
Antique Road show sounds so inviting. I hardly have time to watch the antiques of others since my own keep me busy. LOL
I think this would make a quite lovely tray. I have done this with a painting I adored, but had of very little “value” other than my own appreciation. I affixed two discarded drawer handles, one at each side, and it turned out quite wonderfully in the end. Just a “light-hearted” thought for you to consider for its repurposing. 💕
I do believe I have something that can be repurposed for a need I have right now. I need a tray I can use for eating at the TV. Not a good practice but I do it. If I buy a couple of drawer handles I can probably do just as you have suggested. I’ll try it. Thank you. And thanks for your likes on my other posts for the week. Much appreciated.

This is absolutely beautiful!
Thank you so much. Link to see how it looks now – https://onetahayes.com/2022/09/15/how-my-lighthouse-art-looks-now/
it’s a great piece of art, made even more beautiful by the heart.
It does mean much to my family. See the link to see how it looks now. It hangs in my entry. https://onetahayes.com/2022/09/15/how-my-lighthouse-art-looks-now/
Mark & I, plus our daughter and future son-in-law were at Gladys’ birthday party. That was so long ago. But I remember the red haired litlle boys.
I loved Gladys. When she and Jim would visit me when they would visit me and my first daughter when they would visit his mother in California. The only family to visit us. Oh, but one time Alan Swan visited. I will hear Clyde sing later tonight.
October 1, 2022.
This was a surprise to see you here on my blog. I see you occasionally on Facebook. Keep up a bit. I hope Mark is doing well. And the same for you. We are aging and things are changing though. Every day is a good one for me, but I am put together with nails and screws. 😀 I have to keep the oxygen on; that’s a troublesome pain! But they tell me it helps keep me alive. Jesus is the One who is keeping me alive, but I do think He wants me to be obedient to those He puts in charge of me. So I try.
