THE RISING CRIME RATE

Their voices raise in unison,

Come on, let’s go. It’ll be fun!

“Ha, God will not do anything,” they say.   ….

That’s been the cry since Jeremiah’s day.

.

They wreck havoc,

on the Goldsmith’s cabinet.

Help themselves to expensive things,

Purses, suits, shoes, and diamond rings.

.

Keep the loot under $900 bucks;

if you take too much, you’re still in luck.

If you are taken to court, they’ll turn you away,

You’ll just meet your friend, the progressive DA.

.

No money, no bail.   They’ll not use a flail, and

You’ll learn to ignore your victim’s wail.

.

Desire leads to sin and sin leads to death.

You’ll finally know the truth,

when you draw your last breath.

About oneta hayes

ABOUT ME Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...

  1. Ha! Good poetry, Oneta. This wording was fun,” You’ll just meet your friend, the progressive DA.”

You captured the heart of the problem quite well! It’s sad these things are going on and really frustrating that we have such bad leadership.

WoW! What a poem! But as you note, the truth will come out.
“Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed blood. For in vain is a net spread in the sight of any bird, but these men lie in wait for their own blood; they set an ambush for their own lives.” Proverbs 1:16-18
