Last year the carolers came. I knew most of them; they were from my church. My pastor and his wife were with them. It was a special treat.
Caroling only came into my life after I married. I must have been with a group from Muse Memorial Church. We were greeted handsomely with cookies and hot chocolate by the Wilkersons. He was a War Veteran. I think he was confined to a wheelchair. I don’t remember specifics but I remember being impressed with his story – and with her cookies. 😀 I have some friends who remember those days. Please jog my memory if you remember more details.
The carolers in my picture at top, were given to me by my sister, Karen. My Christmas present for this year. I did need them early and they needed out of the box on this special week of the year.
Listen to their song. You would expect to hear them singing Oh, Little Town …. or Joy to the World. You would be wrong. These singers are giving me a rousing rendition of “Saved, Saved, Saved.” Yes, that is the source of their joy. I know because I awoke with the song:
Life now is sweet, and my JOY is complete, For I’m Saved, Saved, Saved.
When I get to Heaven I can join them in real life singing; no more hampered by this oxygen tube and lack of lung power. The nurse did tell me this week that my lungs sounded clear and strong. That was a good report.
I’m glad your lungs are sounding clear and strong, Oneta. Singing is indeed one of the greatest joys in life. And just think – someday we’ll do it in heaven all we want! 😀
And I can sing with my sister, Verna, who has gone before me. She was unable to sing because of cancer which took her voice box several years before it took her life.
It might not be your church carolers, but the message is the same.
