Found the following account in some of my writing stuff. It happened four years ago. Just being thankful for life.
**************
I don’t know what wakened me at 1:15 a.m. but I slipped out of sleep enough to became aware of a gaseous odor. I got up to check it out and found a kitchen stove gas knob on. That was a lot of gas that filled the house from the stove to my bed! I apparently had accidentally turned the knob on when I washed the stove at about 10:00 or so.
Join me with a special shout out as I give thanks to Jesus that I woke instead of slipping into eternal sleep instead. Would have been easy, but I choose life!
So another psalm (121:3) “He will not let your foot slip – he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber not sleep.”

ABOUT ME
Hello. To various folks I am Neat’nee, Mom, Grandma Neta, Gramma, Aunt Neta, Aunt Noni, Aunt Neno, and Aunt Neto (lots of varieties from little nieces and nephews). To some I’m more like “Didn’t you used to be my teacher?” or “Don’t I know you from someplace?” To you, perhaps, I am a Fellow Blogger. Not “fellow” like a male or a guy, but “fellow” like a companion or an adventurer. I would choose to be Grandma Blogger, and have you pull up a chair, my website before you, while I tell you of some days of yore. I have experienced life much differently than most of you. It was and is a good life. I hope to share nuggets of appreciation for those who have gone before me and those who come after me. By necessity you are among those who come after me and I will tell you of those who came before. Once upon a time in a little house on a prairie - oops, change that lest I commit plagiarism - and change that “house on the prairie” to “dugout on the prairie.” So my story begins...
I’m glad you are alive and that I am alive. Thanks for this reminder of His eternal protection.
Yes, he is faithful to each of us. Have you been writing. I am a follower but do not remember reading your posts. I’ll have to be more careful not to miss them.
Here’s one https://scottraymondsite.wordpress.com/2017/09/05/prickly-pear-preserves/
That was a very succinct, unique, and interesting way to present that series of scriptures.
Keep the preserves going! 😀
🙏🏻 Praise God! He is always watching over us…that much gas you are a walking miracle. You could have lost consciousness and died .
Yes, that’s the way I see it. Thanks for your response. We’ll be thankful together.
another reminder that He is with us while we slumber and while we wake!
And it is also a reminder that when anything comes against us it doesn’t just sneak past our Ever Alert Lord. He allows it; therefore, it is for our good and for the good of his kingdom. We will never be caught in a random incident. Thanks, Julie.
Sobering words Oneta—words I need to be reminded of often–that He allows it…and in so doing it is for the good of his kingdom—of which pretty much trumps my kingdom—
hard words too as I often sit in the moment hanging on, wondering over the silence but clinging to the knowledge that He is not absent…
There is a purpose for everything. Beats me what it is when I watch my sister dying of cancer – blowing away at a few pounds a week. But I must say I have never seen such a paragon of grace, faith, love, and wisdom in spite of the pain. All I can hang on to is that there is reason. Still there is hope; still there is Jesus!
Oh Oneta, I am sorry.
I watched my dad do the same until his death in March and my aunt in July…then mother 30 years ago…
but as you say, there is hope and there is Jesus and in all of the sorrow, pain and sadness, I still know He is there….
Yes, he is. And you know something very positive – she is not defeated!
Blessed for sure….. PTL
Bill, it is nice to see you back. I’ve been keeping up a bit. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks, not much energy or curiosity lately….
Bill, I know you know who your helper is. And he is there even when or if you can’t see him. He is watching to do good. Sometimes it takes some time to get the answers to you. Remember the angel coming to Daniel. “I heard the first day you prayed…..”
Yes, we are. And most of the time we don’t even know what he is doing, but he is doing it faithfully anyway. But if we look for him, we catch glimpses that are amazingly delightful.
Amen
😀
Praise God for His continual watchcare over us. And for something as simple as a sense of smell!
Amen. Thanks for your comment. We are so prone to forget how he cares for us.
Thank you Oneta for blogging this reminder of Grace. Thank God indeed for Grace that keeps us travelling. Memories of the times ‘we might have gone home’ only strengthen our faith and desire to go forward one day at a time with gratitude. His is well able to keep us until the day of His Desiring. Blessings and love!
We are in his hands. What security. If not security from, then security through.
OOps. HE IS WELL ABLE! a-men
😀
Oh my! God is good all the time. \0/
Amen! I enjoyed your blog today Roo. Good stuff there.
I’m so glad God woke you that night so you were here to read it!
